Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh belum adanya kajian ilmiah yang membandingkan lateks cair dan lem putih sebagai bahan efek rias karakter luka bakar derajat III, sehingga standar kualitas lem putih belum memiliki acuan yang jelas. Penelitian bertujuan mengetahui ada tidaknya perbedaan hasil rias antara kedua bahan, serta mendeskripsikan kecenderungan kualitasnya ditinjau dari aspek blending, fine edges, authenticity, dan durability. Metode yang digunakan adalah eksperimen kuasi dengan within-subject design melalui pendekatan split-body test, di mana lima model menerima kedua perlakuan sekaligus, lateks cair pada tangan kiri dan lem putih pada tangan kanan. Penilaian dilakukan oleh tiga panelis ahli menggunakan lembar observasi rating scale 1–4 secara blind assessment. Data diuji normalitasnya dengan Shapiro-Wilk (Sig. = 0,701) sebelum dianalisis menggunakan Paired Samples T-Test. Hasil menunjukkan nilai Sig. (2-tailed) sebesar 0,512, lebih besar dari 0,05, sehingga H₀ diterima dan H₁ ditolak dimana tidak terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara kedua bahan. Secara deskriptif, lateks cair unggul pada aspek blending dan fine edges, sedangkan lem putih unggul pada aspek authenticity dan durability, meskipun perbedaan tersebut tidak signifikan secara statistik. Temuan ini mengindikasikan lem putih dapat menjadi alternatif bahan yang sebanding dengan lateks cair dalam pembuatan efek rias karakter luka bakar derajat III.*********** This study was motivated by the absence of scientific research comparing liquid latex and white glue as materials for third-degree burn special effects makeup, resulting in a lack of clear quality standards for the use of white glue. The study aimed to determine whether differences existed in the makeup results produced by the two materials and to describe their quality tendencies based on blending, fine edges, authenticity, and durability. The study employed a quasi-experimental method using a within-subject design through a splitbody test approach, in which five models received both treatments simultaneously, with liquid latex applied to the left hand and white glue to the right. The results were evaluated by three expert panelists using a blind assessment with a 4-point rating scale. Data normality was tested using the Shapiro–Wilk test (Sig. = 0.701) before analysis with a Paired Samples t-test. The results showed a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.512, greater than 0.05, indicating that H₀ was accepted and H₁ rejected, meaning no statistically significant difference existed between the two materials. Descriptively, liquid latex performed better in blending and fine edges, while white glue performed better in authenticity and durability, though not significantly. These findings indicate that white glue can be a comparable alternative to liquid latex for third-degree burn special effects makeup.
