Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan jenis, makna, dan fungsi metafora konseptual yang terdapat dalam lirik-lirik lagu Tulus pada album Manusia. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan landasan teori metafora konseptual yang dikemukakan oleh Lakoff & Johnson. Data penelitian berupa ungkapan-ungkapan lirik yang mengandung metafora konseptual, yang diperoleh dari teks lirik-lirik lagu dalam album Manusia. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan mengklasifikasikan metafora berdasarkan jenisnya, yaitu metafora ontologis, metafora orientasional, dan metafora struktural serta metafora ganda, kemudian mendeskripsikan makna dan fungsi metaforisnya secara kontekstual. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa lirik-lirik lagu Tulus dalam album Manusia mengandung ketiga jenis metafora konseptual menurut Lakoff & Johnson, dengan metafora ontologis sebagai jenis yang paling dominan. Metafora ontologis digunakan untuk mengonkretkan konsep-konsep abstrak seperti jiwa, perasaan, luka, kenangan, dan waktu agar lebih mudah dipahami secara kognitif. Metafora struktural berfungsi membingkai engalaman hidup dan relasi interpersonal melalui kerangkan konseptual seperti jalan, arus, dan kisah. Sedangkan metafora orientasional muncul dalam jumlah terbatas dan berperan sebagai penegas nuansa emosional melalui orirentasi ruang tinggi-rendah dan gelap-terang. Selain itu, ditemukan juga metafora ganda yang menunjukkan adanya pemetaan konseptual berlapis dalam satu ungkapan lirik. Dari segi fungsi, metafora dalam album Manusia memiliki fungsi emotif, referensial, puitis, konatif, dan informasional sesuai dengan konteks wacana lagu. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa metafora onseptual merupakan perangkat utama dalam konstruksi makna lirik Tulus dan berperan penting dalam merepresentasikan pengalaman manusia secara reflektif dan kognitif. ***** This study aims to describe the types, meanings, and unctions of conceptual metaphors found in the song lyrics of Tulus in the album ‘Manusia’. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach based on the theory of conceptual metaphor proposed by Lakoff & Johnson. The data consist of lyrical ecpressions containing onceptual metaphors, obtained from the song lyrics in the album ‘Manusia’. Data collection was conducted through intensive reading and note taking, while data analysis was carried out by classifying metaphors according to their typers: ntological metaphors, structural metaphors, orientational metaphors, and mixed metaphors and subsequently describing their metaphorical meanings and functions contextually. The result show that the song lyrics in Tulus’s album ‘Manusia’ contain all three types of conceptual metaphors proposed by Lakoff & Johnson, with ontological metaphors being the most dominant. Ontological metaphors are used to concretize abstract concepts such as the soil, feeling, wounds, memories, and time, making them cognitively more accessible. Structural metaphors function to frame life experiences and interpersonal relationship through conceptual structures such as journey, flows, and stories, while orientational metaphors appear in a limited number and serve as reinforces of emotional nuance through spatial orientations such as up-down and light-dark. In addition, mixed metaphors are also found, indicating the presence of layered conceptual mappings within a single lyrical expression. In terms of function, the metaphors in the album ‘Manusia’ serve emotive, referential, poetic, conative, and informational, functions in accordance with the context of the songs. Thus, this study confirms that conceptual metaphor is a central device in constructing meaning in Tulus’s song lyrics and plays an important role in representing human experience in a reflective and ognitive manner.
