Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan penjumlahan pada peserta didik hambatan intelektual ringan melalui Pendekatan Pendidikan Matematika Realistik (PMR). Penelitian dilaksanakan di SLBN 5 Jakarta dengan subjek empat peserta didik hambatan intelektual ringan kelas VII SMPLB, yaitu DE, DI, N, dan Q. Penelitian menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) model Kemmis dan McTaggart yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus, meliputi tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes kemampuan penjumlahan, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Data dianalisis secara kualitatif menggunakan model Miles dan Huberman melalui tahapan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan, serta didukung oleh analisis kuantitatif deskriptif melalui perbandingan skor tes pada kemampuan awal, siklus I, dan siklus II. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan penjumlahan pada seluruh peserta didik. Skor kemampuan penjumlahan pada kemampuan awal berturut-turut adalah DE (60), DI (60), N (50), dan Q (60). Setelah tindakan pada siklus I, skor meningkat menjadi DE (80), DI (70), N (60), dan Q (80). Peningkatan kembali terjadi pada siklus II dengan skor akhir DE (90), DI (90), N (80), dan Q (80), sehingga seluruh peserta didik mengalami peningkatan skor minimal 20 poin dari kemampuan awal. Hasil analisis kualitatif menunjukkan bahwa peserta didik lebih aktif dalam pembelajaran, mampu memahami konsep penjumlahan melalui konteks kehidupan sehari-hari, serta lebih teliti dan percaya diri dalam menyelesaikan soal menggunakan media konkret. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa Pendekatan Pendidikan Matematika Realistik efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan penjumlahan pada peserta didik hambatan intelektual ringan kelas VII di SLBN 5 Jakarta. Kata Kunci : Pendidikan Matematika Realistik, Kemampuan Penjumlahan, Hambatan Intelektual Ringan. ***** This study aimed to improve the addition skills of students with mild intellectual disabilities through the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach. The study was conducted at SLBN 5 Jakarta with four seventh-grade students with mild intellectual disabilities, namely DE, DI, N, and Q, as the research subjects. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which consisted of two cycles involving the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through addition skill tests, observations, and documentation. The data were analyzed qualitatively using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, and were supported by descriptive quantitative analysis through a comparison of test scores obtained during the pre-action stage, Cycle I, and Cycle II. The findings indicated an improvement in the addition skills of all participants. The initial scores were DE (60), DI (60), N (50), and Q (60). After the implementation of Cycle I, the scores increased to DE (80), DI (70), N (60), and Q (80). Further improvement was observed in Cycle II, with final scores of DE (90), DI (90), N (80), and Q (80). All participants achieved the success criterion by improving their scores by at least 20 points from the initial assessment. Qualitative findings also revealed that the students became more actively engaged in learning, demonstrated a better understanding of addition concepts through real-life contexts, and showed greater accuracy and confidence in solving addition problems using concrete learning media. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Realistic Mathematics Education approach is effective in improving the addition skills of students with mild intellectual disabilities at SLBN 5 Jakarta.
