Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan media audio visual terhadap hasil belajar Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial (IPS) murid kelas V SDN Rawamangun 01 Jakarta Timur. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada semester genap tahun ajaran 2024/2025. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen semu (quasi experiment) dengan desain Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Sampel penelitian terdiri atas dua kelas, yaitu kelas eksperimen yang diberikan pembelajaran menggunakan media audio visual dan kelas kontrol yang menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes hasil belajar IPS, sedangkan analisis data meliputi uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, uji N-Gain, dan uji hipotesis menggunakan Independent Samples t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media audio visual memberikan pengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap hasil belajar IPS murid. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan hasil uji Independent Samples t-test pada data posttest yang memperoleh nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,000 < 0,05, sehingga hipotesis penelitian diterima. Selain itu, rata-rata hasil belajar kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas kontrol setelah diberikan perlakuan. Penggunaan media audio visual juga mampu meningkatkan motivasi, partisipasi aktif, serta pemahaman murid terhadap konsep-konsep IPS yang bersifat abstrak melalui penyajian materi yang lebih konkret, menarik, dan kontekstual. Dengan demikian, media audio visual terbukti efektif digunakan sebagai alternatif media pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar IPS murid kelas V sekolah dasar. *** This study aims to determine the effect of using audiovisual media on the Social Studies (IPS) learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SDN Rawamangun 01 in East Jakarta. The study was conducted during the even semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. The research method used was a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research sample consisted of two classes: an experimental class that received instruction using audiovisual media and a control class that used conventional instruction. Data were collected through Social Studies achievement tests, while data analysis included normality tests, homogeneity tests, N-Gain tests, and hypothesis testing using the independent samples t-test. The results of the study indicate that the use of audiovisual media has a positive and significant effect on students’ social studies learning outcomes. This is evidenced by the results of the Independent Samples t-test on the posttest data, which yielded a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, thereby confirming the research hypothesis. Additionally, the average learning outcomes of the experimental class were higher than those of the control class after the intervention. The use of audiovisual media also enhances students’ motivation, active participation, and understanding of abstract social studies concepts by presenting the material in a more concrete, engaging, and contextual manner. Thus, audiovisual media has proven effective as an alternative learning medium for improving the social studies learning outcomes of fifth-grade elementary school students.
