Abstract
***** This study aimed to examine the effect of perceived father involvement on aggressive behavior among adolescents. The study employed a quantitative approach using a simple linear regression method. A purposive sampling technique was used to recruit 235 adolescents aged 13–18 years as participants. Data were collected through an online questionnaire administered via Google Forms. The instruments used in this study were the Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire (BPAQ), developed by Buss and Perry (1992), to assess aggressive behavior based on the multidimensional construct of aggression, and the Reported Father Involvement Scale (R-FIS), developed by Finley and Schwartz (2004), to assess perceived father involvement. Both instruments were adapted from previous studies and were deemed appropriate for the characteristics of the respondents in this study. The results indicated a significant negative relationship between perceived father involvement and aggressive behavior among adolescents (r = -0.215, p < .001). Furthermore, the simple linear regression analysis revealed a significant effect (F = 11.244, p = .001), with perceived father involvement accounting for 4.6% of the variance in aggressive behavior (R² = .046), while the remaining 95.4% was explained by other factors beyond the scope of this study. In conclusion, higher levels of perceived father involvement were associated with a lower tendency for adolescents to exhibit aggressive behavior.
