Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of confirmation bias, risk perception, locus of control, and financial literacy on the investment decision of Generation Z in Jakarta. The method used is a quantitative approach with a causal design. The population consists of all Generation Z individuals residing in Jakarta with investment experience, treated as an infinite population given the absence of official data on its exact size. The sample consisted of 140 respondents selected through purposive sampling based on specific criteria, with data collected using a 5-point Likert scale questionnaire. Prior to hypothesis testing, the research instrument was tested for validity and reliability on 30 respondents outside the sample, and all items were declared valid and reliable. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression conducted across four separate models with the aid of SPSS, after the regression models were confirmed to satisfy the classical assumption tests (normality, heteroscedasticity, and linearity). The results show that confirmation bias has a positive and significant effect on investment decision (t-value = 15.019 > t-table 1.977; Sig. < 0.001; R² = 0.620). Risk perception was also found to have a positive and significant effect (t-value = 14.720; Sig. < 0.001; R² = 0.611), as did locus of control (t-value = 14.918; Sig. < 0.001; R² = 0.617) and financial literacy (t-value = 17.654; Sig. < 0.001; R² = 0.693). Thus, it can be concluded that confirmation bias, risk perception, locus of control, and financial literacy have a positive and significant effect on investment decisions.
