Abstract

Tari Ratu Kota Jakarta merupakan karya tari kreasi yang menampilkan perpaduan unsur budaya Betawi dan ekspresi modern sebagai gambaran identitas Jakarta sebagai kota metropolitan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan dekonstruksi terhadap mekanisme relasi kuasa (power/knowledge) yang bekerja melalui proses representasi Tari Ratu Kota Jakarta sebagai representasi budaya Betawi di ruang publik. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif analitis. Data primer dikumpulkan melalui observasi partisipatif terhadap elemen koreografi (gerak, busana, dan musik) serta wawancara mendalam dengan pemangku kepentingan terkait. Analisis dilakukan dengan mengintegrasikan teori Power/Knowledge dari Michel Foucault untuk membedah bagaimana pengetahuan tentang kebudayaan diproduksi dan dilegitimasi melalui praktik diskursif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa representasi budaya dalam Tari Ratu Kota Jakarta dibentuk melalui jaringan relasi kuasa dan pengetahuan. Meskipun dikonsepkan sebagai kritik sosial terhadap standar kecantikan di industri hiburan, standardisasi estetika ini justru memicu resistensi atau "insureksi pengetahuan tertundukkan" (insurrection of subjugated knowledges) dari seniman tradisional yang masih berpegang pada pakem tari yang membumi. Kata Kunci: Tari Ratu Kota Jakarta, Representasi Budaya, Relasi Kuasa, Power/Knowledge, Michel Foucault.******* The Ratu Kota Jakarta dance is a creative work that blends Betawi cultural elements with modern expression, reflecting Jakarta's identity as a metropolis. This study aims to deconstruct the mechanisms of power relations (power/knowledge) operating through the representation of Ratu Kota Jakarta as a depiction of Betawi culture in the public sphere. The research employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive-analytical method. Primary data were gathered through participant observation of choreographic elements-movement, costume, and music-and in depth interviews with relevant stakeholders. The analysis integrates Michel Foucault’s theory of power/knowledge to examine how cultural knowledge is produced and legitimized through discursive practices. The findings reveal that the cultural representation within Ratu Kota Jakarta is shaped by a network of power and knowledge relations. Although conceived as a social critique of beauty standards in the entertainment industry, this aesthetic standardization has actually sparked resistance or an "insurrection of subjugated knowledges" from traditional artists who remain committed to grounded, conventional dance forms.
