Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman matematis peserta didik kelas V-A SDN Bintara VI melalui penerapan model cooperative learning tipe Think Pair Share (TPS). Penelitian dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya pemahaman matematis peserta didik yang ditunjukkan melalui kesulitan dalam memahami konsep, mengandalkan hafalan prosedur dalam menyelesaikan soal, serta mengalami kesulitan ketika soal disajikan dalam bentuk atau konteks yang berbeda. Peserta didik juga belum mampu memahami informasi dalam soal secara utuh dan menentukan langkah penyelesaian berdasarkan konsep yang mendasarinya. Kondisi tersebut diperkuat oleh hasil ulangan harian, yaitu sebanyak 22 dari 30 peserta didik (73,3%) belum mencapai Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM) sebesar 75. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan model Kemmis dan McTaggart yang meliputi tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah 30 peserta didik kelas V-A SDN Bintara VI. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi observasi, tes pemahaman matematis, catatan lapangan, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman matematis peserta didik. Pada Siklus I, ketuntasan klasikal mencapai 66,6%, kemudian meningkat menjadi 83,3% pada Siklus II sehingga melampaui indikator keberhasilan yang ditetapkan sebesar 80%. Peningkatan terjadi pada seluruh indikator pemahaman matematis, yaitu mendefinisikan konsep, memberikan contoh dan bukan contoh, menggunakan berbagai representasi matematis, serta membedakan berbagai jenis konsep. Dengan demikian, penerapan model Think Pair Share dapat meningkatkan ketuntasan pemahaman matematis peserta didik kelas V-A SDN Bintara VI berdasarkan indikator keberhasilan penelitian. ***** This research aims to improve the mathematical understanding of fifth-grade students at SDN Bintara VI through the implementation of the Think Pair Share (TPS) cooperative learning model. The study was motivated by the low level of students’ mathematical understanding, as indicated by their difficulties in understanding mathematical concepts, reliance on memorized procedures when solving problems, and inability to solve problems when they were presented in different forms or contexts. Students also experienced difficulties in understanding information in problems and determining appropriate solution steps based on the underlying concepts. This condition was supported by the initial mathematics test results, which showed that 73.3% of the 30 students had not achieved the Minimum Competency Criteria (KKM) of 75. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, consisting of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting stages. The subjects were 30 fifth-grade students of class V-A at SDN Bintara VI. Data were collected through mathematical understanding tests, observations, field notes, and documentation. The results showed an improvement in students’ mathematical understanding. In Cycle I, the percentage of students achieving the KKM reached 66.6%, which increased to 83.3% in Cycle II and exceeded the predetermined success criterion of 80%. Improvements were observed across all mathematical understanding indicators, including defining concepts, providing examples and non-examples, using various mathematical representations, and distinguishing different types of concepts. In conclusion, the implementation of the Think Pair Share cooperative learning model can improve the mathematical understanding of fifth-grade students at SDN Bintara VI based on the established research success criteria.
