Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan merancang produk fesyen berkelanjutan berbahan limbah tekstil dengan menerapkan teknik patchwork sebagai upaya pemanfaatan kembali material sisa produksi yang ramah lingkungan. Perancangan karya ini dilatarbelakangi oleh meningkatnya pencemaran limbah tekstil dan mikroplastik, khususnya bahan sintetis seperti poliester dari industri fesyen, yang berdampak pada kerusakan ekosistem laut dan biota perairan. Kondisi ini menunjukkan pentingnya penerapan sistem produksi dan konsumsi berkelanjutan sesuai SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production. Melalui konsep fesyen berkelanjutan, karya ini mengangkat motif biota laut sebagai representasi visual isu pencemaran lingkungan sekaligus media penyampaian pesan ekologis. Teknik patchwork digunakan untuk mengolah limbah kain menjadi produk fesyen yang memiliki nilai estetis, fungsional, dan ekologis. Metode penelitian menggunakan practice-led research dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, eksplorasi limbah tekstil, teknik patchwork, motif biota laut, serta wawancara narasumber dan calon pengguna. Hasil penelitian dianalisis menggunakan teknik reduksi data. Analisis tersebut menghasilkan produk fesyen berkelanjutan bermotif biota laut yang menawarkan alternatif fesyen yang lebih bertanggung jawab serta meningkatkan kepedulian terhadap lingkungan. Kata kunci: Limbah Tekstil, Patchwork, Motif, Biota laut, Fesyen Berkelanjutan*****This study aims to design sustainable fashion products made from textile waste by applying the patchwork technique as an environmentally friendly approach to reusing production leftovers. The project is motivated by the increasing pollution caused by textile waste and microplastics, particularly synthetic fibers such as polyester from the fashion industry, which contribute to the degradation of marine ecosystems and aquatic life. This issue highlights the importance of implementing sustainable production and consumption systems in accordance with SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production. Through the concept of sustainable fashion, this work incorporates marine life motifs as a visual representation of environmental pollution while serving as a medium for conveying ecological messages. The patchwork technique is employed to transform textile waste into fashion products with aesthetic, functional, and ecological value. The research adopts a practice-led research methodology with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, exploration of textile waste, patchwork techniques, marine life motifs, and interviews with experts and prospective users. The findings were analyzed using the data reduction technique. The analysis resulted in sustainable fashion products featuring marine life motifs that offer a more responsible fashion alternative while promoting greater environmental awareness.
