Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui dan menggambarkan eksistensi Tari Shiu Pat Mo di Sanggar Tari Kirana Tangerang di tengah modernisasi seni pertunjukan. Tari Shiu Pat Mo merupakan tari tradisional hasil akulturasi budaya Betawi dan Tionghoa yang berkembang sejak abad ke-17, namun kini semakin jarang dikenal, khususnya oleh generasi muda. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan data dari (1) observasi, (2) wawancara, (3) studi pustaka, (4) dokumentasi, yang dianalisis melalui model interaktif Miles dan Huberman, serta diuji keabsahannya dengan triangulasi sumber dan teknik. Penelitian ini mengacu pada teori enkulturasi Herskovits (1948) dalam Man and His Works: The Science of Cultural Anthropology, yang meliputi empat tahap: (1) pengenalan, (2) pembelajaran, (4) internalisasi nilai, (5) pewarisan budaya, serta konsep (1) eksistensi, (2) pewarisan budaya, (3) Tari Shiu Pat Mo. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa eksistensi Tari Shiu Pat Mo di Sanggar Tari Kirana dipertahankan melalui proses pembelajaran dan pewarisan budaya yang berkesinambungan, sesuai teori enkulturasi Herskovits. Sanggar ini berperan sebagai wadah pelestarian yang tidak hanya mengajarkan teknik gerak, tetapi juga menanamkan nilai, sejarah, dan filosofi tari, serta memperkenalkannya kepada masyarakat luas. Disimpulkan bahwa eksistensi tari ini terjaga melalui pewarisan budaya antargenerasi, dan disarankan agar sanggar terus konsisten melestarikannya. ******* This study aims to identify and describe the existence of the Shiu Pat Mo Dance at Sanggar Tari Kirana, Tangerang, amid the modernization of performing arts. Shiu Pat Mo is a traditional dance resulting from the acculturation of Betawi and Chinese cultures, which has developed since the 17th century, but is now increasingly unfamiliar, particularly among the younger generation. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data obtained through (1) observation, (2) interviews, (3) literature review, and (4) documentation, analyzed using the interactive analysis model of Miles and Huberman, and validated through source and technique triangulation. The study is grounded in Herskovits's (1948) theory of enculturation, as presented in Man and His Works: The Science of Cultural Anthropology, which comprises four stages: (1) cultural introduction, (2) cultural learning, (3) internalization of cultural values, and (4) cultural inheritance, as well as the concepts of (1) existence, (2) cultural inheritance, and (3) the Shiu Pat Mo Dance.The findings show that the existence of the Shiu Pat Mo Dance at Sanggar Tari Kirana is maintained through a sustained process of learning and cultural inheritance, in line with Herskovits's theory of enculturation. The studio serves as a vehicle for preservation, not only teaching movement techniques but also instilling values, history, and the philosophy of the dance, while introducing it to the wider community. It is concluded that the existence of this dance is sustained through intergenerational cultural inheritance, and it is recommended that the studio continue to consistently preserve it.
