Abstract

Bahasa mandarin merupakan salah satu bahasa dengan penutur terbanyak di dunia. Bahasa ini telah menjadi salah satu pelajaran dalam kurikulum nasional sejak tahun 2004. SMA Kristen Bethel Jakarta merupakans salah satu sekolah yang telah mengajarkan bahasa Mandarin sebagai mata pelajaran peminatan sejak awal tahun 2000. Namun, hingga saat ini belum ada dokumentasi tertulis mengenai sejarah dan pelaksanaan pembelajaran bahasa Mandarin di sekolah tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui latar belakang dan proses awal mula kegiatan pembelajaran bahasa Mandarin di SMA Kristen Bethel Jakarta, serta mengetahui pelaksanaan pembelajaran empat aspek kompetensi (menyimak, berbicara, membaca, dan menulis) bahasa Mandarin di SMA Kristen Bethel Jakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode observasi partisipatif selama Praktik Keterampilan Mengajar (PKM), wawancara mendalam dengan kepala sekolah dan guru mata pelajaran bahasa Mandarin, dan metode dokumentasi. Analisis data menggunakan model Miles dan Huberman yang meliputi pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa latar belakang diadakannya pembelajaran bahasa Mandarin di SMA Kristen Bethel jakarta tidak terlepas dari sejarah politik dan kebijakan pemerintah dan pengalaman pribadi kepala sekolah yang pernah menempuh pendidikan di sekolah Tionghoa selama beberapa saat. Dalam pelaksanaannya, guru bahasa Mandarin telah mengajarkan keempat kompetensi berbahasa dengan baik. Namun, pencapaian kompetensi setara HSK Level 1/CEFR A1 masih perlu ditingkatkan karena latihan yang mengacu pada standar tersebut masih terbatas. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi referensi bagi pembaca, sekolah, kampus, dan peneliti lain yang hendak meneliti bidang terkait. ****** Mandarin is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. It has become one of the subjects in the national curriculum since 2004. Bethel Christian Senior High School Jakarta is one of the schools that has been teaching Mandarin as a elective local content subject since the early 2000s. However, is no written documentation regarding the history and implementation of Chinese language learning at the school. This study aims to determine the background and initial process of Chinese language learning activities at Bethel Christian Senior High School Jakarta, and to describe the implementation of the four competency aspects (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) of Mandarin language learning at the school. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection was conducted through participatory observation during the Teaching Practice Program (PKM), in-depth interviews with the principal and Mandarin language teacher, and documentation. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that the background of Chinese language learning at Bethel Christian Senior High School Jakarta is inseparable from political history and government policies, as well as the personal experience of the principal who had studied at a Chinese school for a period of time. In its implementation, the Chinese teacher has taught the four language competencies well. However, the achievement of competencies equivalent to HSK Level 1/CEFR A1 still needs to be improved because exercises referring to these standards remain limited. This research is expected to serve as a reference for readers, schools, universities, and other researchers who wish to study related fields.
