Abstract

Buku ajar memiliki peranan penting dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar dalam program Bahasa. Karena bervarisasinya buku ajar yang tersedia, analisis buku dianggap penting untuk dilakukan agar bisa mengetahui bagaimana komponen-komponen di dalam buku ajar disajikan. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana buku ajar Bahasa Inggris yang disediakan oleh pemerintah yang berjudul “Bahasa Inggris: When English Rings a Bell” untuk siswa kelas 8 memenuhi kriteria dari BSNP (isi, penyajian, Bahasa, dan kegrafikaan). Studi ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan penjabaran secara deskriptif. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data merupakan studi dokumen dengan analisis isi dalam bentuk ceklis. Ceklis tersebut dibuat dengan mengadaptasi kerangka yang sudah BSNP keluarkan untuk evaluasi bahan ajar. Hasil studi ini menujukan bahwa buku ajar tersebut cocok digunakandalam proses belajar mengajar. Buku ajar tersebut memperoleh skor di kelayakan isi (81,25%), di kelayakan Bahasa (100%), di kelayakan penyajian (88,89%), dan di kelayakan kegrafikaan (97,64%). Yang kemudian, buku ajar tersebut memperoleh kriteria “Baik” dengan sedikit perbaikan. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa buku ajar tersebut cocok untuk digunakan di dalam kelas dengan bantuan dari sumber lain dan improvisasi guru.   The textbooks play an important role in teaching and learning activity in language program. Because of the various textbooks provided, textbook analysis is seen as an important thing to be conducted in order to find out how the components of the textbook are served. This study was aimed to investigate to what extent the English textbook entitled “Bahasa Inggris: When English Rings a Bell” for eighth grade students meet the criteria of BSNP (content, presentation, linguistic features, and graphics). This study was descriptive qualitative approach. The instrument used to collect the data is document study used in the form of checklist. A checklist was made adopted from BSNP (2011) framework. The results of this study showed that textbook entitled “When English Rings a Bell” for Eight Grade is suitable to be used in teaching learning process. The textbook achieved the fulfillment score content appropriateness (81,25%), language appropriateness (100%), presentation appropriateness (88,89%), and graphics appropriateness (97,64%). Then, the English textbook When English Rings a Bell for VIII Grade is categorized into “good” textbook by achieving the score of 95,07% with a little revision. Thus, it can be concluded that textbook is suitable to be used in order to help the teaching learning process in the classroom with the help of other sources and teacher improvisation.
