Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan mengetahui apakah terdapat pengaruh fear of missing out terhadap kecanduan media sosial instagram pada remaja di DKI Jakarta. Kemudian, untuk mengetahui seberapa besar pengaruhnya apabila ada. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan alat ukur Fear of Missing Out Scale (FoMOS) dari A.K. Przybylski, dkk (2013) untuk mengukur rasa fear of missing out dan alat ukur Social Media Addiction Scale – Student Form (SMAS-SF) dari Cengiz Sahin (2018) untuk mengukur kecanduan media sosial instagram. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah remaja berusia 11-24 tahun di DKI Jakarta yang aktif menggunakan media sosial instagram. Sampel pada penelitian ini berjumlah 211 responden dengan menggunakan teknik purposing sampling. Hasil pengujian statistik menunjukkan nilai F hitung 86,006 > F tabel 3,89, dan nilai p 0,000 < α 0,05 maka dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan antara fear of missing out terhadap kecanduan media sosial instagram pada remaja di DKI Jakarta. Berdasarkan hasil analisa data, terdapat pengaruh fear of missing out terhadap kecanduan media sosial sebesar 29,2%. Hubungan tersebut memiliki arah yang positif atau searah yang berarti bahwa, apabila fear of missing out naik, maka kecanduan media sosial instagram naik. This research was conducted with the aim of knowing whether there is an influence of fear of missing out on Instagram social media addiction in adolescents in DKI Jakarta. Then, to find out how much influence if there is. In this study quantitative research methods are used. This research uses the Fear of Missing Out Scale (FoMOS) measuring instrument from A.K. Przybylski, et al (2013) to measure the fear of missing out and Social Media Addiction Scale - Student Form (SMAS-SF) measuring instrument from Cengiz Sahin (2018) to measure Instagram's social media addiction. The population in this study is adolescents aged 11-24 years in DKI Jakarta who are actively using Instagram social media. The sample in this study amounted to 211 respondents using purposing sampling techniques. Statistical test results show the calculated F value of 86.006> F table 3.89, and the p value of 0.000 <α 0.05, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence between fear of missing out on Instagram social media addiction in adolescents in DKI Jakarta. Based on the results of data analysis, there is an influence of fear of missing out on social media addiction by 29.2%. The relationship has a positive or unidirectional direction which means that, if the fear of missing out rises, social media addiction to Instagram increases.
