Abstract

Kemampuan representasi matematis bermanfaat dalam proses pembelajaran matematika. Salah satu manfaatnya adalah mengkomunikasikan ide-ide atau gagasan yang dimiliki oleh peserta didik dengan berbagai caranya sendiri, sesuai dengan pemahaman dan pengetahuan yang dimiliki. Berdasarkan hasil TIMSS pada tahun 2015, Indonesia berada pada peringkat 44 dari 49 negara yang berpartisipasi. Salah satu faktor penyebabnya adalah siswa kesulitan dalam menjawab soal yang berkaitan dengan kemampuan representasi. Peneliti memilih pendekatan open-ended untuk dianalisis karena pendekatan ini memberikan kebebasan kepada peserta didik untuk berpikir secara aktif dan kreatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penerapan pendekatan open- ended terhadap kemampuan representasi matematis siswa Sekolah Dasar. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian studi kepustakaan dengan metode penelitian kualitatif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan pembahasan, diperoleh hasil bahwa penerapan pendekatan open-ended mampu meningkatkan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa Sekolah Dasar. Pembelajaran dengan pendekatan open-ended memberikan masalah dengan beragam cara penyelesaian, sehingga memudahkan siswa untuk menemukan cara penyelesaiannya sendiri. Dengan demikian, pendekatan open-ended mampu meningkatkan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa. Kata Kunci : Pendekatan Open-Ended, Kemampuan Representasi Matematis Mathematical representation abilities provide benefits in learning mathematic. One of the benefits is communicating ideas that students have in various ways on their own, according to their understanding and knowledge. Based on the TIMSS results in 2015, Indonesia is ranked 44th out of 49 participating countries. One of the contributing factors is that students have difficulty answering questions related to representation abilities. The researchers chose the Open-Ended Approach to be analyzed because this approach gave the students freedom to think actively and creatively. This study aims to analyze the application of the Open-Ended Approach to the mathematical representation abilities of elementary school students. This research is a literature study with qualitative research methods. Based on the results of research and discussion, it was found that the application of the open-ended approach was able to improve the mathematical representation abilities of elementary school students. Learning with the Open-Ended approach provides problems with various ways of solving, making it easier for students to find their own solutions. Thus, the open-ended approach is able to improve students mathematical representation abilities. Keyword : Open-Ended Approach, Mathematical Representation Abilities.
