Abstract

Skripsi ini mengkaji tentang Pagelaran Wayang Kulit khususnya seniman Dalang sebagai Alat Keberhasilan Pembangunan di Banyumas pada era Orde Baru, periode 1986 hingga 1990. Penelitian skripsi ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan bagaimana upaya seniman Dalang dalam menyisipkan program- program pemerintah Orde Baru di Banyumas pada tahun 1986-1990 dan untuk mengetahui bagaimana masyarakat dapat menerima pagelaran wayang kulit purwa dengan alur cerita yang bermetafora sebagai agenda pemerintah Orde Baru. Metode yang digunakan dalam kajian ini adalah metode historis, yaitu terdiri dari pengumpulan sumber (heuristic), kritik sumber (verivikasi), interpretasi dan historiografi. Dalam tahap pengumpulan sumber penulis mengumpulkan sumber penulisan baik sumber primer dan sumber sekunder seperti buku. Setelah data terkumpul, data tersebut diverivikasi secara kritik intern maupun ekstern. Setelahnya adalah interpretasi fakta dalam rangka menafsirkan berbagai sumber yang telah diuji keakuratannya. Hingga pada tahap akhir dilakukan penulisan dalam bentuk skripsi. Penelitian ini disajikan secara deskriptif-naratif, dengan menguraikan tentang Pagelaran Wayang Kulit sebagai Alat Keberhasilan Pembangunan di Banyumas pada rentang tahun 1986 sampai 1990 yang dijelaskan secara naratif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pagelaran wayang kulit di Banyumas pada tahun 1986-1990 digunakan sebagai alat penyisipan pesan-pesan pembangunan Orde Baru. Intervensi pemerintah terhadap seni pewayangan begitu ketara pasca peristiwa Gerakan 30 September 1965. Kondisi sosial, ekonomi, dan politik di Banyumas saat itu masih termarjinalkan, sehingga pemerintah melalukan upaya stabilisasi politik dan rehabilitasi ekonomi. Dalang sangat berperan penuh dalam menyajikan cerita pewayangan kehidupan berbangsa melalui tokoh-tokoh yang pantas diteladani. Kreativitas seorang dalang kian terlihat saat beberapa lakon dimodifikasi dengan nuansa politik pembangunan. Penyisipan pesan Orde Baru oleh dalang dilakukan secara tersirat hingga terbuka melalui teknik melok, medhang miring, dan nyampar pikolih. Pendekatan pemerintah dengan model top down berhasil menarik antusias masyarakat untuk memelihara pembangunan di Banyumas. Sehingga pagelaran wayang kulit sangat berpengaruh terhadap keberhasilan pembangunan di Banyumas. Keberhasilan tersebut antara lain pemerataan pembangunan, penekanan laju pertumbuhan penduduk, dan kemenangan Golongan Karya. Kata Kunci : Dalang, Orde Baru, Pembangunan nasional This thesis examines wayang kulit performance, especially dalang artists as atoll of successful development in Banyumas during the New Order era, from 1986 to 1990. This thesis research aims to explain how the efforts of dalang artists in inserting New Order government programs in Banyumas in 1986-1990 and to find out how the public can receive wayang kulit purwa performances with metaphorical storylines as the agenda of the New Order government. The research method used in this study is the historical method, which consist of collecting siurces (heuristic), source critism (verivication), interpretation and historiography. In the source collection phase the writer collects both primary and secondary sources such as books. After that is the interpretation of facts in order to interpret the various sources that have been tested for accuracy. Until the final stage, a thesis is written. This research is presented in a descriptive-narrative manner, by describing Wayang Kulit Performance as a Political Propaganda Tool of the New Order in the years 1986 to 1990 which was explained narratively. The results of this study showed that wayang kulit performances in Banyumas were used as a means of inserting messages for the development of the New Order. The government’s intervention in the art of puppetry (dalang) was significant after the events of the Movement of September 30, 1965. Social, economic, and political conditions in Banyumas at that time were still marginalized, so the government carried out political stabization and economic rehabilitation efforts. The dalang plays a full role in presenting the wayang stories of the nation’s life through characters who deserve to be imitated. The creativity of a puppeteer is increasingly seen when some plays are modified with the political nuances of the development of the New Order. The insertion of the New Order message was carried out implicitly until it was exposed through the techniques of melok, medhang miring, and nyampar pikolih. The government’s approach with a top down model has succeeded in attracting the enthusiasm of the community to maintain development in Banyumas. So that wayang kulit performances are very influential on the success of development in Banyumas. These successes include equitable development, suppression of population growth, and the victory of the Golongan Karya. Keywords: Dalang, New Order, national development
