Abstract

ABSTRACT The journey of music, especially the journey of the music industry, experiences ups and downs which indicate the dynamics in it. But documentation of the music journey itself must exist. According to Alm. Denny Sakrie, in writing the book “100 Years of Indonesian Music”: the Indonesian state is very bad in terms of documentation, the journey of Indonesian music. This is the background for the creation of the artist. The creation of this artwork has the concept of redesigning a book entitled 100 Years of Indonesian Music to become a visual medium of information about the journey of Indonesian music. The aim is to re-introduce the book as well as a source of information, and references to Indonesian music in each era for ages 17-35 years. This is so that there is no longer any unrelated knowledge of the journey of music in each generation. This research method uses qualitative methods by conducting color exploration trials, illustration styles, typography, and background styles. This type of research and creation research uses research-led practice, where research becomes the basis for practice. Sources of data in this study were obtained from various sources, written sources and photographs in order to obtain the necessary data. Artists use data collection techniques through observation, surveys using google form and Instagram media, literature studies, and documentation. The use of visual media is able to attract readers of the age the artist is aiming for. The redesigned work entitled 100 Years of Indonesian Music was also given additional music references using a barcode that referred to the Indonesian music documentation website, Iramanusantara.org. Illustration style used: American Coomic Style applied in the illustration of musical characters. In the production process using digital painting techniques. Overall using the content material from the original book. However the layouting, and visuals of the artist changed and added a few things. Keywords: Redesign, 100 Years of Indonesian Music Book, Indonesian Music Journey ************** ABSTRAK Perjalanan musik terutama perjalanan industri musik mengalami pasang surut yang menandakan adanya dinamika didalamnya. Namun dokumentasi perjalanan musik itu sendiri harus ada. Menurut Alm. Denny Sakrie, dalam tulisan buku “100 Tahun Musik Indonesia”: negara Indonesia sangat buruk dalam hal dokumentasi, perjalanan musik Indonesia. Hal itulah yang menjadi latar belakang penciptaan perupa. Penciptaan karya seni ini memiliki konsep yaitu redesain buku berjudul 100 Tahun Musik Indonesia menjadi media visual informasi tentang perjalanan musik Indonesia. Memiliki tujuan untuk memperkenalkan kembali buku tersebut sekaligus sumber informasi, dan refrensi perjaanan musik Indonesia ditiap era untuk usia 17-35 Tahun. Hal ini agar tidak lagi ada ketidak terkaitan pengetahuan perjalanan musik ditiap generasi. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan melakukan uji coba eksplorasi warna, style ilustrasi, tipografi, dan gaya background. Jenis riset penelitian dan penciptaan ini menggunakan research- led practice, yaitu penelitian menjadi dasar dalam praktik. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini diperoleh dari berbagai narasumber, sumber tertulis dan foto guna memperoleh data yang diperlukan. Perupa menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, survei menggunakan media google form dan Instagram, studi pustaka, dan pendokumentasian. Penggunaan media visaul mampu menarik pembaca dari usia yang perupa tuju. Karya hasil redesain buku berjudul 100 Tahun Musik Indonesia juga diberi tambahan refrensi musik menggunakan barcode yang merujuk ke website dokumentasi musik Indonesia yaitu Iramanusantara.org. Gaya illustrasi yang digunakan: American Coomic Style yang diaplikasikan dalam illustrasi tokoh musik. Dalam proses produksi memakai teknik digital painting. Secara kesuluruhan memakai materi konten dari buku aslinya. Namun layouting, dan visual perupa ubah dan menambahkan beberapa hal.
