Abstract

Pada penelitian ini, penulis bertujuan untuk mengungkap psychosocial development dari karakter Melody dan Iris serta faktor apa yang memengaruhi psychosocial development mereka pada novel red at the bone. Untuk tujuan utama, penulis akan menggunakan 8 tahapan dari psychosocial development yang di buat oleh Erik Erikson. Untuk Melody, tahapan satu hingga lima akan digunakan untuk mengungkap psychosocial development miliknya. Kemudian, untuk karakter Iris, tahap lima dan enam yang akan digunakan. Selain teori psychosocial development, peneliti juga akan menggunakan teori attachment dari John Bowlby guna menjawab apaa faktor yang memengaruhi psychosocial development mereka. Pada penelitian ini, penulis menggunakan model kualitatif dengan metode diskriptif analatis. Data yang dikumpulkan dapat berwujud kata, frasa, kalimat, dan ekspresi yang mengandung psychosocial development dari karakter Melody dan Iris. Kemudian, proses pengumpulan data meliputi membaca nvel hingga selesai, menandai data yabg berpotensi mengandung psychosocial development dari karakter Melody dan Iris, lalu, mengidentifikasinya. Hasil temuan pada penelitian ini adalah : (1) psychosocial development dari karakter Melody dan Iris diungkap; (2) faktor penyebab psychosocial development mereka adalah kegagalan Melody dalam fase awal dalam teori attachment yaitu pada masa bayi. ********** The research aim are to reveal the psychosocial development of Melody's and Iris's Characters in Red At The Bone and what factor that influence it. The first objective will be analyze using eight stages of erikson psychosocial development. For Melody specifically the stages that accommodate her psychosocial development are first to fifth stages. On the other hand, Iris's psychosocial development will much more suitable potray by fifth and sixth stages. Besides using erikson theory, researcher intend to use attachment theory that coined by John Bowlby to uncover the factor that influences their psychosocial development. In this research, qualitative research will be suitable because descriptive analytical method will be used. The data that will be collected are in forms of words, phrases, sentences and expressions which indicates psychosocial development of Melody's and Iris's. The data collecting procedure will be first reading the novel thoroughly, carefully highlights the potential data, and identify the data that indicates psychosocial development of Melody's and Iris's. From the research, the finding results are: (1) Melody's first to fifth stages of psychosocial development is revealed and Iris's fifth and sixth stages also have been revealed; (2) factors that influence their psychosocial development is failure in phase one of attachment bonding between infant and caregiver, in this case Melody and Iris.
