Abstract

Ketika dihadapkan dengan sebuah percakapan, tentu kita diharuskan untuk memilih kata yang tepat untuk menghindari konflik, atau bahkan menyakiti lawan bicara. Hal ini dapat disebut sebagai Tindakan Mengancam Muka (TKM), dimana pada situasi tertentu pembicara mengancam muka positif atau negatif pendengar. Percakapan dalam film Lost Girls juga mengandung ucapan-ucapan yang menandakan terjadinya TKM. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tindakan pengancaman muka dan pengaruhnya terhadap pendengar, setelah tindakan pengancaman muka digunakan melalui tuturan tokoh utama yang merupakan seorang ibu tunggal yang sedang mencari putrinya yang hilang dalam film Lost Girls, Mari Gilbert. Studi ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dan teori dari Brown & Lenvinson. Data yang diambil berasal dari tuturan Mari Gilbert yang mengandung tindakan mengancam muka. Ditemukan terdapat 118 data dari tuturan Mari Gilbert yang mengandung empat jenis dari tindakan mengancam muka. Di antaranya yaitu 39 tuturan TKM negatif pada mitra tutur (33,05%), 9 tuturan TKM negatif pada penutur (7,63%), 64 tuturan TKM positif pada mitra tutur (54,24%), dan 6 tuturan TKM positif pada penutur (5,08%). Adapun tanggapan dari pendengar setelah ucapan Mari Gilbert yang mengandung TKM adalah: 1) menerima TKM, 2) menentang TKM (strategi ofensif dan strategi defensif), dan 3) tidak memberikan tanggapan. Penulis menyimpulkan bahwa jenis tindakan mengancam wajah yang dominan dilakukan oleh Mari Gilbert adalah TKM positif kepada pendengar, terutama pada Sherre, detektif, dan Komisaris Dormer. When dealing with a conversation, certainly we are required to choose the right words to avoid conflict, or even hurt the other person. We can call it as Face Threatening Act (FTA), where in certain situations the speaker threatens the hearer's positive or negative face. Conversation in the movie Lost Girls also contained utterances that signal the occurrence of FTA. This study aims to find out the face-threatening act and its affect the hearers after the face-threatening acts used through utterances of the main character who is a single mother that looking for her missing daughter in the Lost Girls movie, Mari Gilbert. This study uses descriptive qualitative method and Brown & Levinson’s theory. The data is taken from Mari Gilbert’s utterances that contained face-threatening act. There are 118 data found from Mari Gilbert’s utterances that included four kinds of face-threatening acts. There are 39 utterances of negative FTA to hearer (33,05%), 9 utterances of negative FTA to speaker (7,63%), 64 utterances of positive FTA to hearer (54,24%), and 6 utterances of positive FTA to speaker (5,08%). As for the response from the hearers after Mari Gilbert’s utterances of FTA are: 1) accepting the FTA, 2) countering the FTA (offensive strategy and defensive strategy), and 3) giving no response. The writer concludes that the dominant types of face-threatening acts that conducted by Mari Gilbert is the positive FTA to hearer, mostly to Sherre, the detective and Commissioner Dormer.
