Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tentang penggambaran peran gender melalui karakter perempuan dalam Komik Avatar: The Promise Bagian I. Penelitian ini membahas mengenai bagaimana peranan gender dapat digambarkan melalui penokohan dari masing-masing karakter perempuan yang terlibat di dalam Komik ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap keberadaan peranan gender yang diperankan oleh karakter perempuan seperti yang ada di dalam komik. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif yaitu dengan cara mengumpulkan potongan-potongan gambar dan percakapan yang memuat karakter perempuan di dalam Komik Avatar: The Promise Part I. Kemudian dari potongan-potongan gambar tersebut akan dianalisis menggunakan Teori Peranan Gender dan Teori Tanda Visual untuk dikaitkan dengan peranan karakter perempuan tersebut di dalam komik. Hasil dari penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa masing-masing dari karakter perempuan di dalam komik ini sudah berhasil menggambarkan peranan gender mereka melalui kontribusinya di dalam masyarakat. ********* This is a research about a Portrayal of Gender Roles Through Female Characters in Avatar: The Promise Part I Comic Book. The research discuss about how are gender roles portrayed through the characterisation of female characters involved in the comic. The research was aimed to reveal the portrayal of Gender Roles through female characters as depicted in the comic. This research was conducted using qualitative method by collecting pictures and dialogues that shows female characters in Avatar: The Promise Part I Comic Book. The pictures and the dialogues were then analyzed using Gender Roles Theory and Theory of Visual Sign to relate with the female characters contribution to portray their gender roles within the society. The result in this research shows that every female character in the comic has successfully portrayed their gender roles through their contributions in the society.
