Abstract

Seren Taun adalah bentuk upacara syukuran yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat Sunda atas karunia Tuhan karena telah diberikan hasil panen yang melimpah. Seren Taun Cigugur belangsung pada tanggal 22 Rayagung tahun Saka Sunda. 22 menunjukkan bilangan 20 yang berarti sifat wujud manusia dan 2 sebagai berpasang- pasangan, dan Rayagung yang memiliki arti merayakan keagungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat bagaimana peran agen dalam mensosialisasikan Seren Taun Cigugur, Kabupaten Kuningan. Selain itu, juga membahas bagaimana proses pembudayaan atau enkulturasi budaya Seren Taun Cigugur pada masyarakat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari dua orang informan utama, satu orang informan kunci dan lima orang informan. Informan utama adalah pengurus Paseban Tri Panca Tunggal, informan kunci adalah pembawa acara dalam acara Seren Taun Cigugur dan lima orang informan merupakan informan yang berasal dari masyarakat. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini adalah obervasi, wawancara mendalam dan dokumentasi. Sosialisasi yang dilakukan oleh agen memberikan efek baik bagi masyarakat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat empat agen yang berperan dalam mesosialisasikan Seren Taun Cigugur, yaitu agen keluarga, agen teman sebaya, agen sekolah dan agen media massa. Budaya Seren Taun yang ada di Kelurahan Cigugur disosialisasikan oleh keempat agen tersebut dengan cara mengajak dan melibatkan individu, memberikan informasi mengenai Seren Taun, melalui ekstrakurikuler dan melalui media cetak dan elektronik. Setelah Seren Taun Cigugur disosialisasikan dan proses pemasyarakatan selesai, mereka memperoleh nilai budaya yang diinternalisasi di dalam diri mereka sehingga selanjutnya mereka mengalami proses pembudayaan atau enkulturasi. Hasil dari proses pembudayaan masyarakat dapat melestarikan Seren Taun dengan terlibat secara aktif atau pasif, baik sebagai peserta Seren Taun Cigugur atau sebagai agen yang menyebarluaskan Seren Taun Cigugur. Seren Taun is a form of appreciation ceremony that is held by the Sundanese community for the bounty from God for giving an abundance of yields. Seren Taun Cigugur takes place on 22 Rayagung of the Saka Sunda year. 22 indicates the number 20 which signify human appearance and 2 which signify pairs, and Rayagung which has the meaning of celebrating greatness. This research aims to look at how the role of agents in socialising Seren Taun Cigugur, Kuningan Regency. Aside from that, this research will also discuss how the process of civilizing or enculturation Seren Taun Cigugur towards society. This research uses the qualitative approach. The subject of this research consist of two main informants, one key informant and five informants. The main informant is the caretaker of Paseban Tri Panca Tunggal, the key informant is the host of the Seren Taun event in Cigugur and the five informants consist of informants from the community. The techniques used to collect the data are observation, in-depth interview and documentation. The socialisation done by the agent produces a good effect on society. The research result shows that four agents are acting in socialising Seren Taun Cigugur, namely family agent, peer agent, school agent and mass media agent. The culture of Seren Taun that is in the district of Cigugur is socialized by the four agents by inviting and involving individuals, providing information about Seren Taun, through extracurricular and through print media and electronics. After the process of socializing Seren Taun Cigugur is completed, the agents acquire internalised cultural values in themselves that they then undergo the process of civilizing and enculturation. The result of the process of culturalizing society can preserve Seren Taun with active or passive involvement, either as participants of Seren Taun Cigugur or as agents that spread Seren Taun Cigugur.
