Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis jenis Bahasa kiasan yang paling banyak digunakan dan arti yang tersembunyi dari Bahasa kiasan dilirik lagu album X Ed Sheeran. Penulis menggunakan teori gaya bahasa dari Leech & Short sebagai pendekatan, dan Laurence Perrine untuk definisi dan bahasa kiasan sebagai alat menganalisis lirik lagu. Sementara, metode konten analisis digunakan karena penulis menganalisis data penelitian seperti kata-kata, frasa dan kalimat lirik yang mengandung bahasa kiasan di dalam 8 lirik lagu dari X abumnya Ed Sheeran. Penemuan menunjukan bahwa terdapat 75 bahasa kiasan di dalam lirik lagu X albumnya Ed Sheeran. Dari 75 bahasa kiasan terdiri dari 1 Simile (1.3%), 17 Metafor (21.3%), 15 Personifikasi (20.0%), 2 Sinekdoke (2.7%), 1 Metonimi (1.3%), 13 Simbol (17.3%), 1 Paradok (1,3%) dan 25 Hiperbola (33.3%). Dengan kata lain, tidak ada Apostrophe, Alegori, Understatement dan Ironi dengan hasil persentasi (0%). Sementara hiperbola paling banyak ditemukan X albumnya Ed Sheeran dengan frekuensi 25 dan persentase (33.3%). Hiperbola paling banyak ditemukan untuk membuat lirik lagu ini agar lebih berkesan dan bermakna untuk pembaca atau pendengar. This study aims to analyze the kinds of figurative language are mostly used and the hidden meanings of figurative languages in Ed Sheeran X album song lyrics. The writer used Leech & Short theory of stylistics as the approach, and Laurence Perrine definition and kinds of figurative language as the tool to analyze the song lyrics. Meanwhile, content analysis method is used because the writer analyzes the data of the study are the words, phrases and sentences of the lyrics that contain figurative language in 8 song lyric of Ed Sheeran’s X album (2014). The finding show that are 75 figurative languages in Ed Sheeran’s X album song lyrics. From 75 figurative languages consist 1 Similes (1.3%), 17 Metaphors (21.3%), 15 Personifications (20.0%), 2 Synecdoches (2.7%), 1 Metonymy (1.3%), 13 Symbols (17.3%), 1 Paradox (1.3%) and 25 Hyperboles (33.3%). Meanwhile there is no Apostrophe, Allegory, Understatement and Irony with its percentage (0%) while Hyperbole is the most found in Ed Sheeran X album with its frequency 25 and percentage (33.3%). Hyperbole is mostly used in order to make all song lyrics more impressive and meaningful for the reader or listener.
