Abstract

Plural noun is the form of a noun that typically denotes more than one. This study is aimed to analyze the errors made by English Department Student in using plural nouns. This study employed Descriptive qualitative study, where the researcher explained the result of research by describing the data gained. The data were taken from the writings of 40 students of English Department UNJ in Grammar Class. The Finding reveals that there are 37 errors committed by the respondents in using plural nouns that are classified into two types. They are omission errors (33 or 89% of the total number of errors), and addition error (4 or 11% of the total number of errors). From the four types of error, omission errors have the highest number of errors. The research further showed that the errors committed by the respondents were due to Intralingual errors with 37 errors (100%). Kata benda jamak adalah bentuk kata benda yang biasanya menunjukkan lebih dari satu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesalahan yang dibuat oleh mahasiswa Jurusan Bahasa Inggris dalam menggunakan kata benda jamak. .Penelitian ini menggunakan Deskriptif Kualitatif, dimana peneliti menjelaskan hasil penelitian dengan menggambarkan data yang diperoleh. Data diambil dari esai 40 siswa jurusan bahasa inggris UNJ di kelas Grammar. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukan bahwa ada 37 kesalahan yang dilakukan oleh responden dalam menggunakan kata benda jamak yang diklasifikasikan menjadi dua jenis. Kesalahan tersebuat adalah omission error (33 atau 89% dari jumlah total kesalahan), dan addition error (4 atau 11% dari total jumlah kesalahan). Dari empat jenis kesalahan, omission error memiliki tingkat kesalahan tertinggi.Penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa kesalahan yang dilakukan oleh responden disebabkan oleh kesalahan intralingual yg mencapai 37 kesalahan (100%).
