Abstract

The objective of the research was to find out the empirical information of the effect of metacognition, critical thinking, and mastery vocabulary on the reading comprehension. This research conducted for 10 (ten) months. The research used a quantitative approach, with path analysis techniques.The research conducted the 3rd grade student of Elementary School in Limpung-Batang, Central Java. The multistage cluster random sampling technique is applied, which 154 student involved as the research sample. Empirical findings of the research revealed that: 1) There is direct positive effect of metacognition to the reading comprehension; 2) There is direct positive effect of critical thinking to the reading comprehension; 3) There is direct positive effect of vocabulary mastery to the reading comprehension; 4) There is direct positive effect of metacognition to the mastery vocabulary; 5) There is direct positive effect of critical thinking to the mastery vocabulary; 6) There is direct positive effect of metacognition to the critical thinking. The implication of the research indicate that: 1) The improvement of metacognition can improve on reading comprehension; 2) The improvement of critical thinking can improve on reading comprehension; 3) The improvement of vocabulary mastery can improve on reading comprehension; 4) The improvement of metacognition can improve on vocabulary mastery; 5) The improvement of critical thinking can improve on reading comprehension; 6) The improvement of metacognition can improve on critical thinking
