Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan studi interpretatif analitik deskriptif yang bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan pemberdayaan perempuan dalam Lirik Lagu Demi Lovato, karena patriarki mengacu pada dominasi laki-laki di masyarakat dan masyarakat membuat perempuan tidak memiliki hak istimewa dalam bidang sosial, ekonomi dan politik. Oleh karena itu, untuk mencapai hak yang harus dicapai, perempuan harus berperan besar sebagai bentuk proses perubahan. Perempuan perlu memberdayakan diri mereka sendiri untuk mendapatkan apa yang pantas mereka dapatkan. Mereka harus memiliki kebebasan dan kekuatan untuk mencapai kehidupan yang lebih baik, dan inilah yang sering disebut dengan pemberdayaan perempuan. Lirik lagu yang akan dianalisa adalah Confident, Really Don’t Care, Warrior, This is Me, Skyscraper, Sorry not Sorry, I love Me. Konsep semiotika Roland Barthes digunakan untuk menganalisis makna konotatif dan denotatif yang merepresentasikan isu pemberdayaan perempuan. Melalui penelitian ini, ditemukan bahwa nilai-nilai pemberdayaan perempuan, cinta diri dan feminisme liberal secara dominan terepresentasi dalam lirik-lirik lagu Demi Lovato bahwa perempuan dapat mengembangkan diri dalam bidang apa pun, sehingga mereka dapat sepenuhnya setara dengan laki-laki. Selain itu, Demi Lovato memberdayakan perempuan untuk selalu mencintai diri sendiri. Perempuan harus menghormati kesehatan fisik, emosional, mental dan spiritual seseorang, yang terdiri dari prinsip-prinsip berikut: pengetahuan diri; memilih untuk melepaskan masa lalu untuk hidup di masa sekarang; kerohanian; kejelasan niat; dan tidak menghakimi penerimaan diri dan keterkaitannya. This is a descriptive analytical interpretative study which aims to reveal Women Empowerment in Demi Lovato’s Song Lyrics, since patriarchy refers to male domination in public and society making women do not have any privileges in the social, economic and political. Therefore, to achieve the right that must be achieved¸ women must play a major role as a form of change process. Women need to empower themselves in order to gain what they deserve. They must have the freedom and power to achieve a better life, and this is what is often called women empowerment. The song lyrics that will be analyzed are Confident, Really Don’t Care, Warrior, This is Me, Skyscraper, Sorry not Sorry, I love Me. The semiotic concepts of Roland Barthes are used in order to analyze the connotative and denotative meaning that represents issue of women empowerment. Through this study, it is found that the values of women empowerment, self-love and liberal feminist are dominantly represented in Lovato’s song lyrics that women can develop improve themselves in any spheres, thus they can completely be men’s equal. Moreover, Demi Lovato empowers women to always do self-love. Women must have respect for one’s physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health, and comprises the following tenets: self-knowledge; choosing to let go of the past to live in the present; spirituality; clarity of intention; and non-judgement from self-acceptance and interconnectedness
