Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat bagaimana konstruksi identitas dari Cather Avery sebagai penderita gangguan kecemasan sosial di dalam Fangirl karya Rainbow Rowell. Menggunakan Social Anxiety Disorder oleh Butler, id, ego, superego oleh Freud, dan status identitas oleh Marcia, penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif analisis interpretatif untuk menganalisis gangguan kecemasan sosial oleh Cather Avery dan hubungannya dengan konstruksi identitasnya. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pengalaman traumatis, intimidasi, penolakan oleh teman-temannya, dan tekanan orang tua ketika dia masih kecil mempengaruhi harga diri Cather sehingga membuat Cather mengembakan gejala gangguan kecemasan sosial. Selain itu, pikiran Cather didominasi oleh Eros karena dia mencari kenikmatan seksual dan memilih untuk tetap hidup setelah berpikir untuk bunuh diri. Adapun untuk status identitas, Cather melalui difusi identitas, penyitaan identitas, moratorium identitas, dan pencapaian identitas. Di tahap difusi identitas, Cather belum tertarik bersosialisasi dengan teman sebayanya. Di tahap penyitaan, Cather secara pasif menuruti perintah orang tunya, Sementara di tahap moratorium, Cather mulai mengeksplor kesukaanya terhadap seni. Kemudian, saat rahasia terbesarnya terungkap ke dunia, Cather kembali ke difusi identitas. Cather akhirnya mengalami pencapaian identitas ketika ia berusaha untuk mengatasi isolasi yang membantu Cather sembuh dari gangguan kecemasan sosialnya. Oleh karena itu, dengan mengatasi isolasi sosialnya. Cather berangsur-angsur pulih dari gangguan kecemasan sosialnya, dimana hal ini membantu Cather membangun identitas barunya menjadi Cather yang lebih optimis dan terbuka kepada keluarga dan teman-temannya. Kata Kunci: Kecemasan, Gangguan Kecemasan, Gangguan Kecemasan Sosial, Id, Ego, Superego, Status Identitas. ******* This study aims to see how the construction of Cather Avery’s identity as a social anxiety disorder in Rainbow Rowell's Fangirl. Using Butler’s Social Anxiety Disorder, Freud’s id, ego, superego, and Marcia’s identity statuses, this study applied the descriptive-analytical interpretative method to analyze Social Anxiety Disorder by Cather Avery and its relation with her identity construction. The results of this study show that traumatic experiences, bullying, rejection by her friends, and her parent’s pressure when he was a child affected Cather's self-esteem, so Cather developed symptoms of social anxiety disorder. In addition, Cather’s mind is dominated by her Eros as she seeks sexual pleasure and chooses to stay alive after contemplating suicide. As for her Identity Statuses, Cather goes through identity diffusion, identity foreclosure, identity moratorium, and identity achievement. In identity diffusion, Cather is not yet interested in socializing with her friends. In the foreclosure, Cather passively obeys her parent’s orders. Meanwhile, during the moratorium, Cather explores her passion for art. Then, as her biggest secret is revealed to the world, Cather returns to identity diffusion. Cather finally experiences identity achievement when she attempts to overcome her social isolation from her social anxiety disorder. Therefore, overcoming her social isolation, Cather gradually recovers from her social anxiety disorder, which helps her construct her identity into a new version of Cather that is more optimistic and open to her family and friends.
