Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan body image dengan self-esteem pada mahasiswa perempuan pengguna Instagram. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Universitas Negeri Jakarta. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif asosiatif, dengan pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner. Populasi penelitian ini merupakan mahasiswa perempuan Fakultas Teknik di Universitas Negeri Jakarta dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 333 responden. Pada penelitian ini menggunakan instrumen Multidimensional Body Self Relations Questionnaire-Appearance Scales (MBSRQ-AS) dan Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory dengan analisis data menggunakan pearson product moment. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dari empat dimensi variabel self-esteem menunjukkan bahwa competence merupakan dimensi tertinggi. Sedangkan, berdasarkan hasil penelitian dari lima dimensi variable body image menunjukkan menunjukkan bahwa overweight pre-occupation merupakan dimensi tertinggi. Hasil analisis menunjukkan hasil uji signifikansi thitung=2,667 dan ttabel 1,649, sehingga hasil tersebut menunjukkan 2,667 >1,649 artinya hubungan self-esteem terhadap body image dinyatakan signifikan. Kemudian hasil uji korelasi menunjukan terdapat hubungan/korelasi yang positif antara self-esteem dengan body image dengan nilai (r) 0,145. Kata Kunci: body image, instagram, mahasiswa perempuan, self-esteem. *********** This study aims to analyze the relationship between body image and self-esteem of female students using Instagram. This research was conducted at the State University of Jakarta. This research method uses quantitative associative methods, with data collection using a questionnaire. The population of this study were students of the Faculty of Engineering at the State University of Jakarta with a total sample of 333 respondents. In this study, the instruments used are Multidimensional Body Self Relations Questionnaire-Appearance Scales (MBSRQ-AS) and Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory with data analysis using Pearson product moment. Meanwhile, based on the results of the study of the five dimensions of the body image variable, it shows that overweight pre-occupation is the highest dimension. The results of the analysis show that the value is known to be tcount = 2,667, obtained ttable 1,649, so these results show 2,667 > 1,649 which means that the relationship between self-esteem and body image is declared significant. Then the results of the correlation test show that there is a positive correlation between self-esteem and body image with a value of (r) 0,145.
