Abstract

Tasya Frasisca. Segregasi Permukiman Etnis Tionghoa (Studi Kasus: Pecinan Glodok, Jakarta Barat). Skripsi, Jakarta: Program Studi Pendidikan Sosiologi, Fakultas Ilmu Sosial, Universitas Negeri Jakarta, 2020. Penelitian ini secara garis besar memiliki tujuan utama yaitu untuk mendeskripsikan terjadinya penyebab segregasi permukiman etnis Tionghoa di Pecinan-Glodok dan pergeseran segregasi permukiman etnis Tionghoa di Pecinan-Glodok. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui observasi, dokumentasi, studi kepustakaan dan wawancara dengan subjek penelitian lima orang masyarakat etnis Tionghoa, satu orang pengurus vihara di Pecinan-Glodok dan satu orang staf Kelurahan. Lokasi penelitian dilakukan di Jakarta pada bulan Januari 2019 hingga Agustus 2019. Penelitian ini menggunakan konsep segregasi permukiman dan etnis Tionghoa. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa terbentuknya segregasi permukiman etnis Tionghoa di Pecinan-Glodok telah mengalami pergeseran. Terbentuknya segregasi permukiman etnis Tionghoa di Pecinan-Glodok disebabkan oleh adanya kebijakan Pemerintah Kolonial yang diskriminatif terhadap masyarakat etnis Tionghoa. Keberadaan etnis Tionghoa di Pecinan-Glodok saat ini masih menujukkan tingkat segregasi yang tinggi. Hal tersebut disebabkan oleh adanya preferensi masyarakat etnis Tionghoa dalam memilih tempat tinggal. Dengan demikian, terjadinya segregasi permukiman etnis Tionghoa di Pecinan-Glodok mengalami pergeseran. Pada zaman Pemerintah Kolonial, kebijakan diskriminatif tersebut menciptakan segregasi permukiman etnis Tionghoa di Pecinan-Glodol terjadi secara involuntary. Saat ini, setelah tidak adanya lagi pembatasan terhadap etnis Tionghoa mengenai permukiman, segregasi permukiman etnis Tionghoa terjadi secara voluntary. The broad outline of this research focuses to depict the cause of the residential segregration of the Chinese Ethnic in Chinatown-Glodok and the shift of residential segregration of Chinese in Chinatown-Glodok. This research uses qualitative approach with case study method. The data of the research was obtained through observation, documentation, literature review and interviews with the subject of research which consists of five people from the Chinese community, one temple keeper in Chinatown-Glodok and one local government official. The research was done in Jakarta between January until August 2019. This research use the concept of residential segregation and the Chinese ethnic. The findings shows that the creation of the residential segregation of the Chinese in the Chinatown-Glodok had shifted. The segregation was due to the policy of the Colonial Government that is discriminative towards the Chinese ethnic. The existence of the Chinese ethnic in the Glodok Chinatown still shows a high level of segregation. That particular matter was due by the preference of the Chinese ethnic in choosing place of their residential. Therefore the residential segregation of the Chinese in the Chinatown-Glodok had shifted. Under the Colonial Government rule, the discriminative policy created the residential segregation of the Chinese ethnic to occur involuntary. Currently, there is no longer limitation towards the residential of the Chinese ethnicity, the residential segregation of the Chinese ethnic occurs voluntary.
