Abstract

Kedudukan English for Specific Purposes (ESP) khususnya English for Academic Purposes (EAP) di perguruan tinggi di Indonesia hanya diajarkan sebagai salah satu mata kuliah dasar umum. Ini dianggap sebagai kursus khusus dalam praktik tetapi tidak diterapkan dengan benar dalam hal teori ESP (EAP dan EOP). Dengan demikian, proses belajar mengajar pada mata kuliah ini menghadapi banyak masalah termasuk penggunaan bahan ajar yang tepat. Penelitian dan Pengembangan (R&D) ini bertujuan untuk mempresentasikan pengembangan bahan ajar bahasa Inggris untuk tujuan akademik digital berbasis web untuk mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Geografi Universitas Hazairin Bengkulu dengan menerapkan kerangka pengembangan materi model ADDIE. Proses pengembangan materi ini melewati empat tahap, yaitu pertama, menganalisis kebutuhan siswa dan dosen, kedua, menganalisis bahan ajar yang ada, ketiga, membuat prototipe bahan ajar berbasis digital Bahasa Inggris untuk tujuan akademik pada Program studi pendidikan geografi, dan keempat, memvalidasi kelayakan materi yang dirancang. Berdasarkan analisis kebutuhan, dengan menggunakan teori pengembangan bahan ajar yang Hutchinson and Waters, Tomlinson, Bernhard dan Zemach, dan teori rapid prototyping, maka dihasilkan bahan ajar digital berbasis web yang diunggah ke aplikasi pembelajaran online Unihaz (https://spada.unihaz.ac.id/). Kajian R&D ini menegaskan bahwa bahan ajar bahasa Inggris digital berbasis web ini sangat dibutuhkan, bermanfaat dan layak bagi mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Geografi. Hasil penelitian dan pengembangan ini menghasilkan luaran disertasi berupa buku referensi ber-ISBN dan artikel yang telah diterbitkan pada jurnal bereputasi Q2, juga telah dipresentasikan pada konferensi internasional ICETeP-3. Pengembangan bahan ajar ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi yang berarti bagi bidang pendidikan Bahasa Inggris khususnya Bahasa Inggris untuk keperluan akademik di era IR 4.0. ******** The position of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) spesifically English for Academic Purposes (EAP) in higher education in Indonesia is only taught as one of general basic courses. It is considered a specific course in practice but not applied properly in terms of ESP theories (EAP dan EOP). Thus, the process of teaching and learning in this course faces many issues including the use of appropriate teaching materials. This Research and Development (R & D) study aimed to present the development a web-based digital English teaching materials for university students of Universitas Hazairin (Unihaz) Bengkulu, majoring Geography by applying materials development framework of ADDIE model. The process of developing this material goes through four stages, namely, first, analyzing the needs of students and lecturers, second, analyzing existing teaching materials, third, making prototypes of English-based digital teaching materials for academic purposes in the geography education study program, and fourth, validating the feasibility of the materials designed. Based on the needs analysis, using the theory of developing teaching materials by Hutchinson and Waters, Tomlinson, Bernhard and Zemach, and the theory of rapid prototyping, web-based digital teaching materials are produced which are uploaded to the Unihaz online learning application (https://spada.unihaz.ac.id/). This R&D study confirms that this web-based digital English teaching material is very much needed, useful and feasible for students of the Geography Education Study Program. The results of this research and development resulted in the output of a dissertation in the form of an ISBN reference book and articles that have been published in reputable journals Q2, which have also been presented at the ICETeP-3 international conference. The development of these teaching materials is expected to give worth contribution to English education field especially in English for academic purposes in the era of IR 4.0
