Abstract

***** This study aims to determine the effect of cross-sectional area, depth, and type of electrode on the value of grounding resistance. In addition, to determine the ideal point for implanting electrodes <5 ohms. The method used in this research is the experimental method. Data was taken based on rod electrodes with a diameter of 5mm:10mm:15mm:20mm at a depth of 50cm:100cm:150cm:200cm, an electrode plate with a cross-sectional area of 25cm2:100cm2:225cm2:400cm2 at a depth of 25cm:50cm:75cm:100cm, then the data was obtained and analyzed to get a conclusion. The measurement results of increasing the diameter have an overall average effect of 0.2 ohm, adding depth has an overall average effect of 1.8 ohm, the ideal point of implanting the electrode is <5 ohm at a depth of> 100 cm with a fixed diameter. Difference in measurements and the calculation of the rod electrode is almost the same, with an average difference of 5.7%. The effect of adding depth to the plate electrode has an overall average of 0.7 ohms, and the result of adding cross-sectional area has an overall average of 2.1 ohms. the ideal point for implanting electrodes is <5 ohms at a depth of >50 cm with a cross-sectional area of >225cm2. The difference in measurements and calculations averages 93.0%, this is a difference due to the perception of using an electrode type that is not maximally pressed against the ground. Keywords: Electrode Type, Electrode Depth, Electrode Cross-sectional Area, Grounding Resistance.
