Abstract
Sebagian besar sekolah hanya berfokus pada proses pembelajaran untuk mencerdaskan pencapaian kognitif peserta didik, namun selama ini ada satu aspek penting yang terabaikan, yaitu aspek non-kognitif seperti motivasi belajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh informasi mengenai hubungan antara kepemimpinan guru (instructional leadership) dan kepribadian (big five personality) peserta didik dengan motivasi belajar biologi. Metode survei nonkausal dilakukan dengan melibatkan 165 peserta didik SMA sebagai sampel. Terdapat tiga instrumen yang dikembangkan dalam penelitian ini yaitu motivasi belajar biologi peserta didik (koefisien reliabilitas sebesar 0,960), kepemimpinan instruksional (koefisien reliabilitas sebesar 0,970), dan kepribadian (big five personality) (koefisien reliabilitas sebesar 0,946). Data dianalisis dengan regresi dan korelasi multipel. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa motivasi belajar biologi peserta didik dapat diprediksi oleh kepemimpinan instruksional dan kepribadian secara signifikan. Peserta didik merasa bahwa kepemimpinan instruksional guru sering membimbing, menginspirasi, dan memotivasi. Motivasi belajar biologi peserta didik juga dikontribusikan kuat oleh kepribadian (big five personality) peserta didik. Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa dalam upaya memperkuat motivasi belajar biologi peserta didik, maka diperlukan kepemimpinan instruksional dan kepribadian (big five personality) yang baik, terutama dalam membangun kebijakan manajemen sekolah yang berisi peningkatan akademik dan berfokus pada aspek non-kognitif. Kata kunci : motivasi belajar, kepemimpinan instruksional, big five personality *********** Most schools in the world focus merely on cognitive teaching and learning processes to enlighten students in cognitive achievement, however, one important aspect has been neglected so far, called non-cognitive aspects such as students’ motivation. This research was aimed at finding out the information about the relationship between leadership styles (instructional leadership) and their personalities (big five personality) with motivation to learn biology. That was why a noncausal survey has been conducted involving 165 senior high school students that were selected randomly as the sample. There were three instruments developed which measured students’ motivation in learning biological subjects (reliability coefficient was 0.960), leadership (reliability coefficient was 0.970), and personality (reliability coefficient was 0.946). Data were analyzed by multiple regression and correlation. The research results revealed that students’ motivation could be predicted by both instructional leadership and personality significantly. Students perceived that their teachers’ leadership have been frequently guided, inspiring, and motivating. Students’ motivation was also contributed strongly by students’ personalities (big five personality). Therefore, it could be concluded that in trying to strengthen students’ motivation, especially in this case, learning biology, both leadership and personality could be taken into account, particularly if school management need to build policies containing the academic improvement based on focusing on non-cognitive aspects.
