Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan jumlah kosakata pada peserta didik hambatan pendengaran. Tujuan tersebut berdasarkan masalah yang ditemukan yaitu media pembelajaran belum inovatif dan tepat sasaran dengan karakteristik peserta didik. Salah satu akibatnya adalah jumlah kosakata yang dimiliki oleh peserta didik tergolong minim. Penelitian tindakan kelas menjadi metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini dengan pendekatan gabungan kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah peserta didik hambatan pendengaran Kelas II (Fase A) di SLBN 5 Jakarta. Penggunaan media flashcard yang biasa digunakan dimodifikasi menggunakan media bongkah plastik/bricks building block. Tahap prasiklus skor rata-rata yang dihasilkan 49. Kemudian pada siklus I skor rata-rata meningkat menjadi 70. Selanjutnya pada siklus II skor rata- rata meningkat kembali menjadi 90. Kesimpulannya adalah media bongkah plastik/bricks building block dapat meningkatkan jumlah kosakata peserta didik hambatan pendengaran Kelas II (Fase A) di SLBN 5 Jakarta. ***** This research focuses on enhancing the vocabulary acquisition of students with hearing impairment by addressing the inadequacy of innovative and tailored learning materials. The prevalent issue of traditional learning resources not aligning with the unique characteristics of these students has resulted in suboptimal vocabulary development. Employing a combined qualitative and quantitative approach within a classroom action research framework, this study concentrates on students with phase A hearing impairment at SLBN 5 Jakarta. The conventional use of flashcards has been creatively adapted by integrating Bricks building blocks. Through a systematic approach, the study begins by establishing a baseline during the pre-cycle, wherein vocabulary acquisition was found to be at 49. Following the implementation of cycle I, there was a noticeable improvement, elevating the acquisition rate to 70. In cycle II, an impressive average acquisition rate recorded at 90. In conclusion, the integration of Bricks building blocks has demonstrated its efficacy in enhancing vocabulary acquisition among students with phase A hearing impairment at SLBN 5 Jakarta.
