Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh social comparison di Instagram terhadap self-esteem pada emerging adulthood. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 267 orang emerging adulthood berusia 18-25 tahun yang diperoleh dengan teknik convenience sampling. Alat ukur yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) dan Iowa-Netherlands Comparison Orientation Measure (INCOM). Berdasarkan hasil pengujian hipotesis dengan menggunakan teknik analisis regresi linear sederhana diketahui bahwa nilai F hitung 15,044 > F tabel 3,87. Hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh negatif yang signifikan dari social comparison di Instagram terhadap self-esteem pada emerging adulthood. Semakin tinggi social comparison di Instagram, maka akan semakin rendah self-esteem pada emerging adulthood. Selain itu, dari hasil penelitian juga diketahui nilai R square sebesar 0,054 yang berarti social comparison di Instagram berkontribusi sebesar 5,4% terhadap self-esteem pada emerging adulthood. This study aims to determine the effect of social comparison on Instagram on emerging adulthood self-esteem. This research uses a quantitative approach. The research sample consisted of 267 emerging adulthood aged 18-25 years who were obtained by convenience sampling technique. The measuring instruments used in this study are the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) and the Iowa-Netherlands Comparison Orientation Measure (INCOM). Based on the results of hypothesis testing using simple linear regression analysis techniques, it is known that the calculated F value 15.044 > F table 3.87. This result shows that there is a significant negative effect of social comparison on Instagram on emerging adulthood self-esteem. The higher the social comparison on Instagram, the lower self-esteem of emerging adulthood. In addition from the results of the study, it is also known that the R square value is 0.054, which means that social comparison on Instagram contributes 5.4% to emerging adulthood self-esteem.
