Abstract

***** This study aims to examine the effect of group guidance with problem solving techniques on binge-watching and parasocial interactions of SMA Suluh students, South Jakarta. The method in this study uses a pre-experimental research method of the Intact-Group Comparision type, where group members are selected based on certain criteria. The subjects of this study amounted to 16 students with a division of 8 students in the experimental group and 8 students in the control group. The results showed that there was an effect of providing group guidance services using problem solving techniques on binge-watching and social interaction of SMA Suluh Jakarta students with an Asymp. Sig. Wilcoxon test of 0.000 on the binge-watching and parasocial interaction variables, meaning that the probability value is smaller than the α 0.05 significance value. It can be concluded that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, meaning that there are significant changes in the problem of binge-watching and parasocial interaction. The level of effectiveness of group guidance using problem solving techniques using the N Gain Score test. The results of the N Gain Score test in the experimental group of binge watching variables were 0.73 or 73% or in the moderately effective category, characterized by a decrease in all aspects of binge watching, namely engagement, positive emotions, desire, pleasure preservation, binge-watching, depedency, and loss of control. In the experimental group, the parasocial interaction variable is 0.43 or 43% or in the less effective N Gain Score category, characterized by only 2 aspects that have decreased, namely aspects of task attraction, and romantic attraction. While 1 other aspect, namely identification attraction, is at the same value. Therefore, providing group guidance services with problem solving techniques for students can reduce binge watching behavior and parasocial interactions, to further optimize it can be applied to communities with the same background.
