Abstract

Penelitian skripsi dengan judul “Sejarah Kehidupan Sosial Budaya Etnis Cina Benteng di Tangerang 1967-1998” ini membahas tentang bagaimana sejarah masyarakat etnis Cina Benteng yang ada di Kota Tangerang, yang berkaitan tentang kehidupan sosial dan budaya masyarakat etnis Cina Benteng pada masa Orde Baru. Metode penelitian ini yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian sejarah yang mencakup empat langkah penelitian, yaitu heuristik, kritik, interpretasi, dan Historiografi. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penulisan skripsi ini adalah pendekatan ilmu sosial yang dibantu oleh pendekatan budaya, yang berfokus pada kajian masyarakat Cina Benteng di Tangerang. Masyarakat etnis Cina di Tangerang disebut juga Cina Benteng, karena mendiami sepanjang daerah bekas benteng Belanda yaitu Benteng Makassar. Kehidupan sosial Cina Benteng yang telah mengalami akulturasi kebudayaan dengan masyarakat lokal di Tangerang. Adanya akulturasi kebudayaan dan integrasi antara masyarakat Cina Benteng dengan masyarakat lokal, membuat hubungan interaksi antara keduanya terjalin dengan sangat baik. Kehidupan sosial kedua masyarakat tersebut pernah mengalami sebuah pertentangan, tetapi bukan masalah yang besar bagi mereka sehingga mereka hidup rukun dan bergotong royong. Dari hasil penelitian ini dapat diketahui ternyata ada beberapa perubahan sosial dan budaya pada masyarakat Cina Benteng, ketika masa kolonial mereka dapat dikatakan hidup berkecukupan karena mereka dianggap partner dalam berdagang sementara saat ini mereka memiliki kehidupan yang sangat sederhana. Kata Kunci: Cina Benteng, Kota Tangerang, Kebudayaan, Sejarah Sosial This thesis research with the title "History of the Social and Cultural Life of the Benteng Chinese Ethnic in Tangerang 1967-1998" discusses the history of the Benteng Chinese ethnic community in Tangerang City, which relates to the social and cultural life of the Benteng Chinese ethnic community during the New Order era. The research method used is a historical research method which includes four research steps, namely heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The approach used in writing this thesis is a social science approach assisted by a cultural approach, which focuses on the study of the Benteng Chinese community in Tangerang. The ethnic Chinese community in Tangerang is also called Benteng China, because they live along the area of the former Dutch fort, namely Makassar Fort. The social life of Benteng China has experienced cultural acculturation with the local community in Tangerang. The existence of cultural acculturation and integration between the Benteng Chinese community and the local community means that the interaction between the two is very well established. The social life of the two communities has experienced conflict, but it is not a big problem for them so they live in harmony and work together. From the results of this research, it can be seen that there have been several social and cultural changes in the people of Benteng China, during the colonial period they could be said to have lived well because they were considered partners in trading while currently they have a very simple life..
