Abstract
***** The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) counseling in increasing the life satisfaction of vocational high school students in Jakarta who experienced parental divorce, especially in class X students at SMK Negeri 31 Jakarta. The research method used is quasi-experiment using Nonequivalent Control Group Design, which is an experimental design conducted on two different groups and get different treatments. The research subjects consisted of 14 students who were divided into two groups. Each group consisted of seven members. The determination of group members was carried out randomly after the measurement of life satisfaction scores was carried out. All group members are grade X students whose parents are divorced and have life satisfaction scores in the Low and Very Low ranges. The research instruments used were the Multidimensional Scale of Student Life Satisfaction (MSLSS) and a group counseling guide with the Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) approach. The experimental group was intervened with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). While the control group was not intervened. The analysis techniques used were Independen Sampel T-Test. The hypothesis of this study is that there is a difference between the life satisfaction scores of students who are intervened with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and those who are not given intervention with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Based on the results of the Independent Sample T-Test calculation, the Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.559> 0.05. The conclusion obtained is that there is no difference in the average life satisfaction of students between those intervened with ACT and those who are not given intervention with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This is because there are several obstacles in the research, ranging from the counselee who is less focused, the overthinking behavior experienced by the counselee, the lack of independent practice by the counselee, the abstract concept of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) which requires several analogies to convey to the counselee, the threat of internal validity and the less open attitude of the counselee to the counselor. Keywords: Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), group counseling, life satisfaction.
