Abstract
Tujuan Penelitian ini untuk mendapatkan informasi yang akurat mengenai progresi dan konstruksi akor yang dilakukan Jacob Collier pada lagu ”Moon River”. Metode Penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan musikologi yang fokus kepada analisis musik. Waktu Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan November 2019 sampai dengan Juli 2022. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan mencari teori pendukung di google scholar, jurnal, dan buku yang berhubungan dengan reharmonisasi lagu ”Moon River” aransemen Jacob Collier. Objek Penelitian adalah partitur lagu ”Moon River” aransemen Jacob Collier yang ditranskrip oleh June Lee. Analisis data dilakukan dengan memberi nama akor dalam partitur asli, mencari teori dalam buku dan jurnal, dan melakukan reduksi data dalam log book. Hasil Penelitian Karya ini memiliki 139 birama. Hasil perbandingan konstruksi akor pada aransemen ini dengan partitur Real Book yang dicetak oleh Hal Leonard adalah sebagai berikut: terdapat 68 birama yang akornya disubtitusi, terdapat 4 birama yang akornya tidak disubtitusi, terdapat 11 birama yang akornya mendapatkan penambahan extensions, terdapat 3 birama yang akornya mengalami pengurangan/perubahan extensions, terdapat 10 birama yang akornya mendapatkan extensions dan progresi yang bertambah, terdapat 3 birama yang extensions akornya berkurang namun progresi akornya bertambah, terdapat 4 birama yang akornya tidak disubtitusi namun ada pergerakkan pada bassline, terdapat 12 birama yang akornya tidak disubtitusi karena bentuk lagu digubah, dan terdapat 1 birama yang akornya tidak disubtitusi karena tidak dimainkan dalam birama. Teknik reharmonisasi Jacob Collier dalam mengaransemen lagu ini adalah menggunakan konsep negative harmony untuk mensubtitusi akor V7, menggunakan konsep tangga nada sintesis untuk membangun bassline dan melodi, menaruh akor yang extensions yang tebal, bahkan dengan akor lima belas, polychords, dan slash chord dengan pergerakkan bassline melangkah, dan penggunaan mikrokromatik dalam contrary motion. ********************************************************** The research method that the researcher had used is qualitative with musicology approach that focused in musical analysis. Time of Research was held from November 2019 to July 2022. Data collection had been done by looking for supporting theories on Google Scholar, journals, and books that have correlations with Jacob Collier’s “Moon River” reharmonization. The Research Object is Jacob Collier’s “Moon River” score that was transcribed by June Lee. Data analysis had been done by naming the chords in the original score, looking for theories in books and journals, and doing data reduction in the log book. The research results This arrangement has 139 measures. The results of the comparison of chord constructions between this arrangement with the Real Book’s score that was published by Hal Leonard are as follows: there are 68 measures of chords that have substituted, there are 4 measures of chords that haven’t substituted, there are 11 measures of chords that have added with extensions, there are 3 measures of chords which extensions have reduced and changed, there are 10 measures of chords that have extensions and the chord progression is increased, there are 3 measures chords which extensions have reduced but the cgord progression is increased, there are 4 measures of chords that aren’t substituted but have movements in the bassline and chords, there are 12 measures of chords that can’t be substituted due to the arrangement of the song form, and there is 1 measure of chords that can’t be substituted because it hasn’t been played on the score. Jacob Collier's reharmonization technique for arranging this song are the use of negative harmony as a concept to substitute V7 chords, the use of synthetic scales concepts to build basslines and melodies, put thick chord extensions, even with fifteen chords, polychords, and slash chords with ascending and descending basslines and the use of microchromatics in contrary motion.
