Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi persepsi mahasiswa Program Studi S1 Pendidikan Tata Rias terhadap profesi guru SMK Tata Kecantikan dari aspek kognitif, afektif, dan konatif. Penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Sampel terdiri dari 55 mahasiswa yang dipilih melalui purposive sampling, dan data dikumpulkan menggunakan kuesioner berskala Likert. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan mayoritas mahasiswa memiliki persepsi cukup positif terhadap profesi guru SMK Tata Kecantikan, dengan persentase 36%. Mahasiswa memiliki pemahaman memadai tentang profesi tersebut, tetapi belum sepenuhnya siap menghadapi tuntutan pekerjaan sebagai guru. Persepsi “cukup” ini juga menunjukkan keterbatasan pengalaman langsung atau paparan terhadap dunia kerja di bidang pendidikan kecantikan. Pada aspek kognitif, 34% mahasiswa menunjukkan pemahaman tinggi terhadap kompetensi profesional dan sosial guru. Namun, pada aspek afektif, 34% dikategorikan rendah, mencerminkan sikap kurang positif terhadap kompetensi kepribadian guru serta status dan penghargaan profesi tersebut. Pada aspek konatif, 38% menunjukkan minat cukup positif untuk berkarier sebagai guru SMK, meskipun sebagian mahasiswa mempertimbangkan karier lain di bidang kecantikan. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan peningkatan sosialisasi mengenai prospek karier guru SMK Tata Kecantikan dan pendalaman kompetensi yang dibutuhkan sebagai pendidik. Hal ini diharapkan dapat menarik minat lebih banyak mahasiswa untuk memilih profesi guru SMK Tata Kecantikan sebagai karier utama. ************************************************************ The study aims to identify the perceptions of undergraduate students in the Bachelor of Education in Cosmetology program toward the profession of vocational school (SMK) cosmetology teachers, focusing on cognitive, affective, and conative aspects. The research employs a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. The sample consists of 55 students selected through purposive sampling, and data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire. The findings reveal that the majority of students hold a moderately positive perception of the profession of SMK cosmetology teachers, with 36% showing this level of perception. Students demonstrate an adequate understanding of the profession but are not fully prepared to meet the demands of teaching. This "moderate" perception also reflects limited direct experience or exposure to the professional environment in the field of cosmetology education. In the cognitive aspect, 34% of students display a high understanding of the professional and social competencies required of teachers. However, in the affective aspect, 34% fall into the low category, indicating less positive attitudes toward teachers' personal competencies as well as the status and recognition of the profession. In the conative aspect, 38% express moderately positive interest in pursuing a career as an SMK teacher, although some also consider other career opportunities in the cosmetology field. This study recommends increasing awareness of career prospects as SMK cosmetology teachers and enhancing the required competencies for educators. These efforts are expected to encourage more students to choose the profession of SMK cosmetology teacher as their primary career path.
