Abstract

ABSTRAK ADI APRIA AKBAR SETIABUDI. Feminisme Eksistensial dalam Novel Nayla Karya Djenar Maesa Ayu. Jakarta: Program Studi Sastra Indonesia, Fakultas Bahasa dan Seni, Universitas Negeri Jakarta, Februari, 2020. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh adanya hubungan kebebasan antara sastra dengan filsafat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memaknai feminisme eksistensial dalam novel Nayla karya Djenar Maesa Ayu. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini metode deskriptif kualitatif. Rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini yaitu bagaimana makna feminisme eksistensial dalam novel Nayla karya Djenar Maesa Ayu. Untuk melihat makna feminisme eksistensial, peneliti menggunakan teori eksistensialisme Jean-Paul Sartre. Sebelum mendapatkan makna feminisme eksistensial, peneliti terlebih dahulu menggunakan teori strukturalisme Robert Stanton yang berfokus pada fakta cerita sebagai langkah awal dalam menganalisis novel. Adapun aspek fakta cerita tersebut adalah tokoh, alur, dan latar. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, aspek Ada-dalam-dirinya yang berupa perasaan tokoh ditemukan data sebanyak 12 kutipan, aspek Ada-untuk-dirinya yang berupa kesadaran dengan dunia eksternal ditemukan data sebanyak 23 kutipan, aspek kutukan kebebasan yang berupa tindakan yang disertai konsekuensi dan tanggung jawab ditemukan data sebanyak tujuh kutipan, aspek keyakinan buruk yang berupa gugatan nasib ditemukan data sebanyak empat kutipan, aspek neraka adalah orang lain yang berupa objektifikasi ditemukan data sebanyak 11 kutipan. Berdasarkan data-data yang telah diklasifikasikan, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa aspek Ada-untuk-dirinya merupakan data terbanyak. Hal tersebut menunjukan adanya kesadaran yang dimiliki tokoh-tokoh dalam novel Nayla untuk bebas menentukan hidupnya sendiri. The background of this research is the connection of freedom between literature and philosophy. This research aims to interpret the existential feminism found in Djenar Maesa Ayu’s Nayla. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The research problems is how does existential feminism interpreted in Djenar Maesa Ayu’s Nayla. To interpret the meaning of existential feminism, the researcher used existential theory by Jean-Paul Sartre. Before interpreting the existential feminism, the researcher used Robert Stanton’s structuralism theory which focuses on the story’s fact as the initial step in analyzing the novel. The aspect of story’s facts are : character, plot, and setting. Based on the research, aspect of Ada-dalam-dirinya (Being-in-itself) in the form of the character's feelings 12 quotes of data were found, aspect Ada-untuk-dirinya (Being-for-itself) in the form of awareness with the external world 23 quotes of data were found, the curse of freedom aspect in the form of actions accompanied by consequences and responsibilities 12 quotes of data were found, aspects of bad faith in the form of fate criticism 4 quotes of data were found, and the aspect of neraka adalah orang lain (hell is other people) in the form of objectification 11 quotes of data were found. According to the classified data, the researcher concludes that the aspect of Ada-untuk-dirinya (Being-for-itself) is the data found most often. This shows that there is a characters’ awareness in the novel Nayla to choose their own path in life. Keywords: existential feminism, existentialism , Nayla’s novel structure
