Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Pemanfaatan Search Engine Berbasis Google Sebagai Sumber Belajar dan Informasi Siswa Dalam Pembelajaran IPS pada siswa kelas VIII SMP Ibnu Syina Cileungsi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Melalui teknik pengumpulan data dengan wawancara, dokumentasi, dan studi kepustakaan. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa-siswi kelas VIII yang berjumlah 9 orang dan 1 guru IPS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan alasan utama siswa memilih google sebagai sumber belajar adalah karena efisiensinya dalam memberikan informasi secara instan. Meskipun demikian, banyak siswa kelas VIII yang masih mengandalkan buku sebagai sumber utama untuk memastikan keakuratan informasi, sementara google digunakan sebagai pelengkap. Mayoritas siswa mengakses search engine berbasis google secara rutin setiap kali membutuhkan informasi yang relevan atau klarifikasi terkait materi pelajaran IPS, sehingga dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis dan literasi digital mereka. Meskipun memiliki banyak manfaat, penggunaan google sebagai sumber belajar juga menghadapi beberapa kendala seperti siswa sering kali kesulitan menentukan sumber informasi yang akurat, serta kurangnya literasi digital yang menyebabkan mereka menerima informasi yang kurang valid. Agar pemanfaatan google dalam pembelajaran IPS lebih efektif, diperlukan peningkatan literasi digital siswa agar mereka dapat memilah dan menggunakan informasi yang benar. Guru juga perlu memberikan bimbingan dalam memilih sumber belajar yang terpercaya. Secara keseluruhan, pemanfaatan search engine berbasis google sebagai sumber belajar dan informasi dalam pembelajaran IPS memberikan dampak positif yang signifikan bagi siswa. ***** his research aims to determine the utilization of Google-based search engines as a source of learning and student information in social studies learning in class VIII students of Ibnu Syina Cileungsi Junior High School. The research method used is descriptive with a qualitative approach. Through data collection techniques with interviews, documentation, and literature study. The subjects of this research were the students of class VIII which amounted to 9 people and 1 social studies teacher. The results showed that the main reason students chose Google as a learning resource was because of its efficiency in providing information instantly. Nevertheless, many VIII grade students still rely on books as the main source to ensure the accuracy of information, while google is used as a complement. The majority of students routinely access google-based search engines whenever they need relevant or clarifying information related to social studies subject matter, thus improving their critical thinking skills and digital literacy. Although it has many benefits, the use of Google as a learning resource also faces several obstacles such as students often have difficulty determining accurate sources of information, as well as a lack of digital literacy which causes them to receive less valid information. To make the use of Google in social studies learning more effective, it is necessary to improve students' digital literacy so that they can sort and use the right information. Teachers also need to provide guidance in choosing reliable learning resources. Overall, the utilization of google-based search engine as a source of learning and information in social studies learning has a significant positive impact on students.
