Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan speaking skills, yakni siswa kelas III Sekolah Dasar. Subjek dari penelitian ini merupakan peserta didik kelas III SDN Duren Sawit 13 Pagi. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (classroom action research) dengan prosedur tahapan penelitiannya menggunakan model Kemmis dan Mc Taggart yang dalam satu siklusnya terdiri dari empat tahap pelaksanaan, yakni perencanaan, tindakan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Pengumpulan data yang dilakukan dengan menggunakan dokumentasi, instrument tes dan catatan lapangan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa Metode Total Physical Response dapat dijadikan salah satu metode pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan speaking skills siswa, khususnya dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Berdasarkan data akhir siklus, pada siklus I siswa memperoleh 57% atau 18 siswa dari 32 siswa. Presentase ini meningkat pada siklus II yaitu menjadi 85% atau 27 siswa dari 32 siswa. Berdasarkan pemantauan tindakan guru dan siswa pada siklus I yaitu 82% untuk guru dan 75% untuk siswa. Presentase ini meningkat pada siklus II yaitu 97% untuk guru dan 92% untuk siswa. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa proses pembelajaran menggunakan metode Total Physical Response dapat meningkatkan speaking skills siswa kelas III SDN Duren Sawit 13 Pagi. ***** This study aims to improve speaking skills, namely grade III Elementary School students. The subjects of this study were grade III students of SDN Duren Sawit 13 Pagi. This type of research is classroom action research with the research stage procedure using the Kemmis and Mc Taggart model which in one cycle consists of four stages of implementation, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data collection was carried out using documentation, test instruments and field notes. The results of this study indicate that the Total Physical Response Method can be used as one of the learning methods to improve students' speaking skills, especially in learning English. Based on the end of cycle data, in cycle I students obtained 57% or 18 students from 32 students. This percentage increased in cycle II to 85% or 27 siswa from 32 students. Based on monitoring the actions of teachers and students in cycle I, namely 82% for teachers and 75% for students. This percentage increased in cycle II, namely 97% for teachers and 95% for students. It can be concluded that the learning process using the Total Physical Response method can improve the speaking skills of grade III students of SDN Duren Sawit 13 Pagi.
