Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis hubungan antara terpaan media sosial X dengan orientasi politik mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Hukum Universitas Negeri Jakarta angkatan 2024. Latar belakang penelitian ini dilandasi oleh meningkatnya intensitas penggunaan media sosial sebagai sumber informasi politik di kalangan mahasiswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kuantitatif korelasional. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 92 responden yang diperoleh dari total populasi sebanyak 1.161 orang dengan menggunakan rumus Slovin pada tingkat kesalahan (margin of error) sebesar 10%. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui penyebaran kuesioner. Instrumen penelitian telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya, serta dianalisis menggunakan uji korelasi Pearson Product Moment dan regresi linear sederhana dengan bantuan perangkat lunak SPSS versi 30. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan positif antara terpaan media sosial X dengan orientasi politik mahasiswa, yang ditunjukkan oleh nilai koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,504 > nilai r tabel 0,205. Temuan ini menunjukkan hubungan antara kedua variabel berada pada kategori hubungan sedang. Hasil uji koefisien determinasi menunjukkan bahwa 25,4% variasi dalam orientasi politik dapat dijelaskan oleh terpaan media sosial X, sedangkan sebesar 74,6% dijelaskan oleh faktor-faktor lain yang tidak dikaji dalam penelitian ini. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, dapat disimpulkan bahwa semakin tinggi tingkat terpaan media sosial X yang diterima oleh mahasiswa, maka semakin tinggi pula tingkat orientasi politik yang dimiliki. ***** This study aims to analyze the relationship between exposure to X social media and the political orientation of students of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law, Jakarta State University, class of 2024. The background of this study is based on the increasing intensity of the use of social media as a source of political information among students. The method used in this study is a quantitative correlational approach. The sample in this study amounted to 92 respondents obtained from a total population of 1,161 people using the Slovin formula at a margin of error of 10%. The data collection technique was carried out by distributing questionnaires. The research instrument has been tested for validity and reliability, and analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment correlation test and simple linear regression with the help of SPSS version 30 software. The results of the study showed a positive relationship between exposure to X social media and students' political orientation, as indicated by a correlation coefficient value of 0.504> r table value of 0.205. This finding shows that the relationship between the two variables is in the moderate relationship category. The results of the determination coefficient test show that 25.4% of the variation in political orientation can be explained by exposure to X social media, while 74.6% is explained by other factors not examined in this study. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that the higher the level of exposure to X social media received by students, the higher the level of political orientation they have.
