Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan self-acceptance pada remaja penyandang disabilitas netra melalui pendekatan kualitatif studi kasus. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan studi dokumen terhadap subjek di Yayasan Pendidikan Dwituna Rawinala. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kedua subjek memiliki dinamika penerimaan diri yang khas pada setiap aspek. Subjek dengan low vision cenderung mengalami kesulitan pada aspek transformasi dan penahanan, masih sering membandingkan diri dengan orang lain dan merasa keterbatasan mempengaruhi banyak area hidupnya. Namun, perlahan subjek mulai mengembangkan perluasan makna hidup dan menunjukkan upaya subordinasi dengan menilai diri dari prestasi dan karakter pribadi. Sebaliknya, subjek dengan kebutaan total memperlihatkan proses transformasi dan penahanan yang lebih stabil, mampu membatasi pengaruh disabilitas hanya pada aspek tertentu dan lebih mudah memperluas nilai hidup di luar keterbatasan fisik. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah self-acceptance pada remaja tunanetra merupakan proses yang kompleks, sehingga setiap individu dapat mengalami perjalanan dan dinamika penerimaan diri yang berbeda-beda sesuai dengan pengalaman dan karakteristik pribadinya. ***** This study aims to describe self-acceptance in adolescents with visual impairments through a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis involving subjects at Yayasan Pendidikan Dwituna Rawinala. The research findings show that both subjects display distinctive dynamics of self- acceptance in each aspect. The subject with low vision tends to experience difficulties in the aspects of transformation and containment, frequently comparing themselves to others and feeling that their limitations affect many areas of life. However, gradually, the subject begins to develop an expanded sense of life’s meaning and demonstrates efforts at subordination by valuing themselves based on personal achievements and character. In contrast, the subject with total blindness shows a more stable process of transformation and containment, is able to limit the impact of the disability to certain areas only, and finds it easier to broaden the values of life beyond physical limitations. The conclusion of this study is that self-acceptance in adolescents with visual impairments is a complex process, so each individual may experience their own unique journey and dynamics according to their personal experiences and characteristics.
