Abstract
This study aims to analyze the influence of fatherless on self-esteem in students in Greater Jakarta. Fatherless, which is the physical and emotional absence of the father, is suspected to have a negative impact on the formation of self-esteem which is important in the development of students identity. This quantitative research involved 123 students (aged 18-25 years) who were selected by purposive sampling. Data were collected through the Father Presence Questionnaire (FPQ) and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES), and analyzed using simple linear regression. The results showed a significant negative relationship between fatherlessness and self-esteem (r = -0.540, p < 0.005), with a contribution of 29.2% (R square = 0.292). The higher the fatherless rate, the lower the student's self-esteem. These findings confirm the importance of the presence and emotional support of fathers in the psychological development of children.
