Abstract

***** This research aims to develop and test the feasibility and effectiveness of online courses in the Tailoring course for Fashion Designers students of the State University of Jakarta. The main problems behind this research are the lack of theoretical understanding, difficulties in the application of sewing practices, and the limitation of adequate learning resources in conventional tailoring learning. To overcome these challenges, an online course based on Moodle's Learning Management System (LMS) was developed by integrating the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) approach. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) by adopting the Dick & Carey instructional design model which consists of ten systematic stages. These stages include identification of learning objectives, instructional analysis, analysis of student characteristics and contexts, formulation of special learning objectives, preparation of evaluation instruments, development of learning strategies, development and selection of media, formative trials (expert evaluations), product revisions, and summative evaluations (student trials). The learning media developed included demonstration videos, interactive digital modules, online quizzes, and practice guides, all of which were designed to support the PjBL syntax. Validation by material experts, media experts, and learning design experts obtained a feasibility percentage of 85%, 75%, and 80%, respectively. Furthermore, the trial was limited to students through the one-to-one trial, small group trial, and open forum trial stages also confirmed the feasibility of the product with an average percentage of 78.43%, 86.10%, and 83%, respectively. The effectiveness aspect was measured through a comparison of students' pre-test and post-test scores, which showed a significant increase with a Normalized Gain (N-Gain) value of 63%, indicating that the category was quite effective. Thus, this research succeeded in producing a proper and effective online Tailoring course in improving student learning outcomes. The implications of this study emphasize the potential of PjBL-based online courses as an innovative solution for vocational learning in the digital era, which is able to facilitate independent, collaborative, and contextual learning.
