Abstract

Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi representasi kekerasan terhadap anak sebagai bentuk humor gelap dalam sitkom animasi Family Guy, dengan fokus pada bagaimana makna psikologis dan budaya tertanam dalam penggambaran humor tentang pelecehan, penelantaran, dan agresi terhadap anak-anak. Penelitian ini menganalisis beberapa adegan Family Guy dengan menggunakan Teori Relief Freud dan model semiotika Roland Barthes, khususnya denotasi, konotasi, dan mitos. Melalui pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, 20 adegan diperiksa berdasarkan konten visual dan verbalnya. Analisis berikut mengungkapkan bahwa tindakan kekerasan terhadap anak-anak secara konsisten dibingkai dengan menggunakan komedi yang dilebih-lebihkan dan skenario yang tidak masuk akal. Adegan-adegan yang melibatkan pengabaian orang tua, kegagalan institusional, dan karakter predator seperti Herbert mengilustrasikan bagaimana Family Guy menyamarkan kritik sosial dalam humor. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan humor gelap dalam acara ini berfungsi sebagai hiburan dan komentar budaya, memungkinkan penonton untuk terlibat dengan subjek yang tabu namun tetap terlepas secara emosional. ***** This study explores the representation of child violence as a form of dark humor in the animated sitcom Family Guy, focusing on how psychological and cultural meanings are embedded within humorous portrayals of abuse, neglect, and aggression toward children. This study analyzes selected Family Guy scenes using Freud’s Relief Theory and Roland Barthes’ semiotic model, particularly denotation, connotation, and myth. Through a descriptive qualitative approach, 20 scenes were examined based on their visual and verbal content. The analysis revealed that violent acts toward children are consistently framed using comedic exaggeration and absurd scenarios. Scenes involving parental neglect, institutional failure, and predatory characters like Herbert illustrate how Family Guy disguises social critique within humor. These findings suggest that the show’s use of dark humor serves as both entertainment and cultural commentary, allowing audiences to engage with taboo subjects while remaining emotionally detached.
