Abstract

Hubungan, Kelimpahan, Mikroplastik, Ukuran Tubuh ***** The widespread use of plastic has led to increased microplastic contamination in various aquatic environments, including the waters surrounding Jakarta Bay. Microplastics originate from the degradation of larger plastic materials through various processes. This study aims to analyze the abundance of microplastics in fishes and seawater, examine the correlation between fishes morphometrics parameters and microplastic abundance in fishes, assess the correlation between microplastic abundance in seawater and that in fishes, and identify the types and colors of microplastics in the area. The method used was descriptive quantitative, beginning with the collection of fishes and seawater samples from four sites around Jakarta Bay: Muara Kamal, Sungai Tahang, Pulau Reklmasi, and Tanjung Pasir. Separation of microplastics from fishes and seawater was conducted using a 30% H₂O₂ solution. Microplastic characteristics were identified using a stereo microscope. Data were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test and Spearman correlation. The abundance of microplastics differed significantly among fishes species, while the abundance of microplastics in seawater did not differ significantly across locations. A correlation between fishes morphometrics and microplastic abundance was only observed in Kapas-kapas (Gerres erythrourus), Selar Kuning (Thryssa hamiltonii), and Rejung (Sillago sihama). There was no correlation between the abundance of microplastics in seawater and that in fishes. The dominant microplastic type found in this study was fiber, accounting for 81.47% in fishes and 47.44% in seawater. Black was the dominant color, comprising 61.63% of the microplastics found in fishes and 38.14% in seawater samples from the Jakarta Bay area. Keywords.
