Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis motivasi siswa dalam memilih Bidang Keahlian Teknologi Konstruksi dan Bangunan di Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) Provinsi DKI Jakarta berdasarkan teori motivasi McClelland yang meliputi need of achievement, need of affiliation, dan need of power. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode survei. Kuesioner disebarkan kepada 227 siswa kelas X Bidang Keahlian Teknologi Konstruksi dan Bangunan yang tersebar di beberapa SMK Negeri Provinsi DKI Jakarta. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa komposisi responden didominasi oleh siswa perempuan di sebagian besar sekolah. Sebagian besar siswa memilih bidang keahlian ini berdasarkan kesadaran diri yang tercermin dari minat, ketertarikan, dan tujuan pribadi, dengan peran orang tua atau keluarga sebagai pertimbangan yang menyertai. Tujuan utama pemilihan bidang keahlian adalah untuk menguasai keterampilan konstruksi yang relevan dengan dunia kerja, meskipun pada beberapa sekolah ditemukan siswa yang menjadikan bidang keahlian ini sebagai pilihan alternatif. Rencana setelah lulus menunjukkan kecenderungan melanjutkan pendidikan ke perguruan tinggi, bekerja di bidang konstruksi, serta belum menentukan pilihan. Berdasarkan analisis motivasi menggunakan teori kebutuhan McClelland, kebutuhan akan kekuasaan (need of power) menjadi indikator paling dominan dengan persentase sebesar 78,04%, diikuti kebutuhan akan afiliasi (need of affiliation) sebesar 75,58% dan kebutuhan akan berprestasi (need of achievement) sebesar 73,70%. Temuan ini menyimpulkan bahwa motivasi siswa dalam memilih Bidang Keahlian Teknologi Konstruksi dan Bangunan lebih didorong oleh orientasi peran, pengakuan, dan posisi strategis di masa depan dibandingkan orientasi prestasi akademik semata. Kata kunci: motivasi siswa, bidang keahlian, teknologi konstruksi dan bangunan, teori McClelland, SMK ***** This study aims to determine and analyze students' motivation in choosing the Construction and Building Technology Field of Expertise at Vocational High Schools (SMK) in DKI Jakarta Province based on McClelland's motivation theory, which includes the need for achievement, the need for affiliation, and the need for power. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. Questionnaires were distributed to 227 tenth-grade students majoring in Construction and Building Technology at several public vocational schools in DKI Jakarta Province. The results of the study show that the composition of respondents is dominated by female students in most schools. Most students choose this field of expertise based on self-awareness reflected in their interests, attractions, and personal goals, with the role of parents or family as accompanying considerations. The main purpose of choosing this field of expertise is to master construction skills relevant to the world of work, although in some schools, students chose this field of expertise as an alternative option. Plans after graduation show a tendency to continue education to college, work in the construction field, and have not yet made a choice. Based on a motivation analysis using McClelland's theory of needs, the need for power was the most dominant indicator with a percentage of 78.04%, followed by the need for affiliation at 75.58% and the need for achievement at 73.70%. These findings conclude that students' motivation in choosing the Construction and Building Technology Field of Expertise is driven more by role orientation, recognition, and strategic position in the future than by academic achievement orientation alone.
