Abstract

***** The growth of the digital economy encourages Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) to intensify the use of technology, particularly through e-commerce adoption and the enhancement of digital literacy. This study aims to analyze the effects of Digital Literacy and E Commerce Adoption on Financial Performance and Sustainability of MSEs in the Special Capital Region of Jakarta, as well as to examine the mediating role of Financial Performance. This research employs a quantitative approach using primary data collected through an online questionnaire with a 6-point Likert scale. The respondents consist of Millennial and Generation Z MSE owners in Jakarta who have operated their businesses for at least two years. Data were analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM PLS) method with SmartPLS 4.0. The results indicate that Digital Literacy has a positive and significant effect on E-Commerce Adoption and Financial Performance, but does not have a significant direct effect on Sustainability. E-Commerce Adoption is proven to have a positive and significant effect on Financial Performance and Sustainability. Furthermore, Financial Performance has a positive and significant effect on Sustainability and acts as a mediating variable in the relationship between Digital Literacy and Sustainability, as well as between E-Commerce Adoption and Sustainability. Overall, the findings emphasize that digital capabilities contribute to business sustainability only when they are effectively converted into improved financial performance.
