Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh masih ditemukannya kesalahan pelafalan pada pemelajar Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing (BIPA) tingkat dasar, khususnya dalam keterampilan membaca nyaring teks deskripsi. Padahal, ketepatan aspek fonologis memiliki peran penting dalam mendukung kejelasan makna dan pemahaman bacaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi jenis-jenis kesalahan fonologis yang dilakukan pemelajar BIPA dalam membaca teks deskripsi serta menganalisis faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi terjadinya kesalahan tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Data penelitian berupa tuturan lisan pemelajar BIPA tingkat dasar yang diperoleh melalui kegiatan membaca nyaring teks deskripsi. Data dikumpulkan dengan teknik rekam dan dianalisis melalui tahap transkripsi fonetik, identifikasi kesalahan, klasifikasi jenis kesalahan fonologis, serta penentuan faktor penyebab kesalahan berdasarkan teori analisis kesalahan berbahasa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kesalahan fonologis yang dilakukan pemelajar BIPA meliputi empat jenis kesalahan fonetis, yaitu substitusi, hiperkoreksi, omisi, dan inversi. Kesalahan paling dominan ditemukan pada pelafalan fonem /r/, vokal schwa /ə/, serta konsonan khas bahasa Indonesia seperti /ɲ/ dan /ʔ/. Berdasarkan sumbernya, kesalahan yang muncul didominasi oleh kesalahan perkembangan, diikuti oleh kesalahan intrabahasa dan interferensi bahasa pertama atau bahasa asing lain. Faktor penyebab kesalahan meliputi keterbatasan kemampuan artikulatoris, kesulitan membedakan bunyi yang mirip, strategi penyederhanaan bunyi, serta pengaruh sistem fonologis bahasa lain. Secara umum, kesalahan fonologis yang terjadi berdampak pada pemahaman lokal, namun pada beberapa kasus menimbulkan dampak global yang dapat mengganggu pemahaman isi teks. Temuan penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi dalam pengembangan pembelajaran BIPA, khususnya pada keterampilan membaca yang terintegrasi dengan penguasaan fonologi. Kata kunci: BIPA, kesalahan fonologis, membaca teks deskripsi, membaca nyaring ***** This study is motivated by the persistence of pronunciation errors among beginner-level learners of Indonesian for Foreign Speakers (BIPA), particularly in the skill of reading descriptive texts aloud. Phonological accuracy plays an essential role in supporting clarity of meaning and reading comprehension. This study aims to identify the types of phonological errors made by BIPA learners in reading descriptive texts and to analyze the factors contributing to the occurrence of these errors. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The data consist of oral utterances produced by beginner-level BIPA learners during aloud reading activities of descriptive texts. The data were collected through audio recording and analyzed through phonetic transcription, error identification, classification of phonological error types, and analysis of causal factors based on error analysis theory. The results indicate that the phonological errors found fall into four types of phonetic errors: substitution, hypercorrection, omission, and inversion. The most dominant errors occur in the pronunciation of the phoneme /r/, the schwa vowel /ə/, and Indonesian-specific consonants such as /ɲ/ and /ʔ/. Based on their sources, the errors are predominantly developmental errors, followed by intralingual errors and interference from the learners’ first language or other foreign languages. The contributing factors include limitations in articulatory ability, difficulty in distinguishing similar sounds, sound simplification strategies, and the influence of other phonological systems. In general, the phonological errors have a local impact on comprehension; however, in several cases, they result in global effects that interfere with overall text understanding. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to the development of BIPA instruction, particularly in integrating reading skills with phonological training.
