Abstract
Vocabulary learning plays an important role in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instruction, particularly as students are increasingly exposed to English through digital media such as YouTube. This study aims to analyze how vocabulary items are presented in selected videos from the Learn English with TV Series YouTube channel based on Paul Nation’s framework of word knowledge and the Four Strands model. This research employed a qualitative content analysis design, with data collected from three videos in the “Christmas English Lessons with TV Series” playlist through transcription and document analysis. The analysis focused on how vocabulary was presented in terms of form, meaning, and use, as well as the type of learning strand reflected in each item. The findings show that all three aspects of word knowledge were present in the videos, although the presentation predominantly emphasized meaning and use through contextual explanations, examples, and visual support, while form-related features were less frequently addressed. In relation to the Four Strands, the vocabulary presentation mainly reflected meaning-focused input and language-focused learning, with no evidence of meaning-focused output or fluency development. These findings suggest that while the videos provide meaningful vocabulary input for Indonesian senior high school EFL learners, they need to be supplemented with additional instructional activities to achieve a more balanced vocabulary learning process.***** Pembelajaran kosakata memiliki peran penting dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris sebagai Bahasa Asing (EFL), terutama seiring meningkatnya penggunaan media digital seperti YouTube sebagai sumber belajar.
